I keeping thinking of what I'm going to put Moon to when she injures herself. Moon is tiny so cant really consider anything over a slight 16.2. She is trakhener x new forest x tb She has several conformational faults, mainly being a long back and no depth. Her limbs and feet are fairly decent but she's to long in the hind cannon for my liking. She also has a massive head!

On the plus side she has nice free movement and a fab jump, though she's better behind than in front over a fence.

This is what I've fallen in love with-
http://www.zangersheide.com/apps/stoeterij_hengst_detail.php?hengst=165

Any thoughts on him? Or alternative suggestions (prob will go for a showjumper first time round, I would like to get an eventer out of but am scared of putting her to a tb in case I lose the jump and paces)

Well, he's certainly got super lines but I'd like to see a decent size photo of him standing. The three photos don't give much idea of conformation although the moving one isn't too bad.

Is he terribly expensive and how big is he?

Well, he's 900 euros all in or 375 euros per dose which is pretty expensive, yes! It's do-able though. Did you see the video link? I think I've fallen in love with his jump

Might be a stupid question, but what do you mean by WHEN she injures herself?!

Lovely potential daddy though!!

Stay positive young lady, they don't all break.

(Try telling Dolly that!!)

Asca Z looks lovely, nice and loose but athletic over those fences too. How big is he, sorry if it says and I'm being thick.. I think you're wise to be open minded and it's a fair statement about perhaps avoiding full TB. Oh.. and take a look at SSB! (Again..) He's not too long either so may suit.. I can't stress how helpful his owner has been with all D's problems, he's even sent the frozen semen and if it isn't used (because her uterine swab comes back positive

) I can just send it back with no fee.

I hope you manage to breed a Moon baby with no prior injuries!!

I dont want to sound negative but I dont see how that stallion is going to improve on your mare. It is difficult to judge from the photo's but not sure he is going to improve on the depth or substance of your mare. He wont have anything you can judge either, he is too young to know what sort of offspring he throws. Could you not go back to a Trak or TB with some substance? I would not use a young stallion on your mare I think you would need to use a stallion who has stock on the ground so you can judge what he puts out from which type of mares. You need a stallion who stamps his stock with a good hind leg & some depth.

Thanks, I will consider him for sure. I'm hoping I'll have a few more years of competition on her before she goes wrong but with my luck, I wont!

Thanks, I'm hoping by the time I breed her he will have some stock coming through. Of all the Z stallions he is my favourite for sure and in the video he looks to have depth and a good hindleg.
Moon has proved to me that a horse doesnt need to be beautifully put together to do the job and as this foal would be for me, I want something that will really inspire me to ride it.

I would want to see him standing as jumping and trotting he looks quite strung out. I would perhaps want something shorter in the back. I know hes eventing but what about All That Jazz? He has a lovely head, short and compact and is very naughty. Thats the type I think I would be going for.

Go and have a look around at the Heals' Vauterhill Stud, in Devon? A range of stallion types to study and a very knowledgeable chap to discuss pros and cons of various crosses. They tend to look very different in the flesh!

Yes I like him but he is quite tall, at least 16.3hh. He is nice and naughty though, and seems to be nice and athletic

I would've loved to have seen Ulysees, but I didn't actually see SSB at home, I gave him a cuddle at Badders instead, Marcus was very helpful too. (SSB was amazingly chilled I have to say)

Give Gary a call on his mobile he's very helpful and should send you both stud cards in the post. We always have a good natter because, like me, he knows more about eventing than breeding!

(And yes, his name is Gary Power; which does make me giggle every time..

Wow he's got a fab jump- looks really bold and snappy with his legs!! Really like his enthusiasm.
Cant tell what his confo is like tho.

What about Corland he is by Cor de La Bryere out of a Ladykiller mare so has loads of TB/SF blood there but he's not compromised on his substance has loads of bone and depth. Brilliant jumper.

Im the same keep looking up potential hubbys for Ellie (when really I hope that itll be years before I resort to breeding from her *we will not suffer any injuries!*

This might suprise you but I think she would cross well with McGuigan. You'd have a very useful animal, and it mightn't be especially pretty, but I bet it would be well made and a nice size.
