... a new huge trailer with living!!!

I am gutted - I don't have one at all, and everyone around me is getting one (incl. my friends!) whilst I am currently strapped for cash (damn wedding is blowing the budget)!!!

Grumpy me... I know

Anyone get jealous due to other horsey people around them???

Well that's your choice isn't it - you're having a big wedding, they've got a nice trailer.

I chose to have a low cost wedding, coming in at under £1K for the whole lot - no honeymoon though, we've got animals to deal with! My sister's wedding cost over £40K inc honeymoon. I've got a smart lorry - she hasn't. I'm certainly not jealous over her big wedding.

Well, the wedding wasn't my idea - but it was my parents who were originally going to be paying for it (it's not costing £40k!!!), and they made their demands known... we ended up having to chip in because my parents' budget didn't quite stretch as far as they said it would... (well, they could really... but they are being stingy - they are still spending loads on exotic holidays)

I had a huge bust-up with mum because of wedding and I had to cave in - she is the sort who thinks she's always right and creates a tantrum if it wasn't as she wanted it to be!!!

I've never been one to be jealous of material things - I dont envy my fellow liveries their shiny new Equitreks, or their new WOW saddles, or their fancy, incredibly handsome Danish Warmbloods

I do, however, get a bit sad when I see them all going off to shows, simply coz I wish I could go too - but there isnt really anything we can do any more!
frown.gif
I guess I'm envious of their guts and their ability!

Heaven forbid that the some of the money they have worked for & saved over many years should be spent on themselves. You are moaning because you feel they should spend more on YOUR wedding. You are also moaning because YOU can't have a trailer....sorry to sound this way but with the attitude you seem to be displaying I'd tell you to pay for the lot yourself...spoilt or what!
mad.gif

I honestly dont agree with making my parents pay for weddings, whats their money is their money, its nice for them to live a little bit with it when all their children are old enough and moved out etc. Il be having a low budget wedding, would rather spend money on other things tbh x

Tasel, elope.

There is an old saying by the way "It isn't the cowshed that the horse comes out of, but the horse that comes out of the cowshed" applies to posh trailers with living too.

Just how posh is it anyway? Like this?

Before you post something like that again, I am not moaning - we did not want to get married where we are going to get married... we wanted a totally different wedding which we would have liked to pay for by ourselves in our own time. But my parents wanted it at the time they wanted it (we needed more time to save up), and in the place they wanted it. They said they wanted to pay for it, but it was actually more than they thought it was going to cost. Parents are very traditional... most people at the wedding are their friends/family that we aren't really close to. OH only has his immediate family there plus 1 friend + partner, I only really have my close friends (about 5 + their partners) on the guestlist.

Maybe you should think before you post, you make assumptions, which are not right. You don't know how other families function... families are complicated. Most people should know that. I think you are just reading too much stuff into a post that was meant to be light-hearted.

Well you're doing a very good impersonation of it.

Try posting what you mean then, on what you posted I stand by what I said.

Well, in that case, I can moan about having to pay for something I did not want!

You really have no idea about this at all, and how much it takes to keep family peace!!! I have two step-sisters already who have not spoken to my dad at all for the last 5 years or more... I didn't want to be another one of those daughters.

This was meant to be a light-hearted post... why do you have to take it so damn seriously!!! It was just about seeing a neighbours new trailer, and being a tad jealous... but not in a desperate, stupid... "I'm gonna cut my wrists" way!!!

It's too in your face for me... neighbour's trailer is much plainer, but nice anyway. Don't have one... so any I see fills me with jealousy

That trailer does look like it belongs to a fire station lol

Id like it in black and silver though
smile.gif
Maybe we should right to Santa?? My little boy seems to get what hes asked for
smile.gif

Charlie55 - Don't talk about Santa... dreamt last night that my English teacher from 10 years ago dressed up as one... *cringe* (no, he was ok, really:)).

Even in black & silver, I would say it's a bit too *bling*... like I'd expect P. Diddy to come out of it!!!

[ QUOTE ]
HAHa, P. Diddy would definetly love that haha

[/ QUOTE ]

Could you imagine P. Diddy getting out of it at a competition??? I bet the SUN will try finding a way to link him via competition to Katie Price (who might or might not be at the competition)... lol. Well, you never know.

I read your second post and realised you weren't being a spoilt brat about the wedding. I know from experience how parents can suddenly become quite demanding about weddings - we orginally wanted ours in this little country house in Scotland but my mother was having none of that, even threatened not to come if it was over the border! She was worried my mother in law would be more on hand to take over and she'd not get a look in. However when we agreed to have it in England she was happy for it to be where we wanted it (well so long as it wasn't too far away from her relatives as they'd complain about getting taxi fares!). I saw some gorgeous lorries at Bramham today and added them to my long wish list
grin.gif
OH was already like
blush.gif
at buying 2 joules tops so I think the lorry might be a long time coming
grin.gif

you aren't being a spoilt brat tasel...my parents have similar feelings about my wedding and this is why it probably won't ever happen....and i really am a spoilt brat and could get the wedding and firetruck trailer out of my dad if i wanted
wink.gif
tongue.gif

btw....being a spoilt brat i LOVE the pimp my ride trailer! how cool would it be in lipstick pink a la katie price?!!

WeeBrown - Phew, so I am not the only one then!!! Bizarrely, have same problem as yours!!!!

Off topic I know - but whose wedding is this? If you and your fiance wanted a quieter wedding or wheatever then you should've put your foot down IMHO.

My OH and I wanted a quiet wedding with a lunch afterwards - my paretns wanted us to have the whole shebang, but at the end of the day they realised it was 'our' day and we had the day we wanted and have never regretted it.

And apart from that - oe day you will get a nice trailer - just that you have to wait a while for it - sometimes we all have to wait for things, and usually we appreciate them better for waiting

Aaaah, so there wasn't one yet... I actually thought I missed one hell of an episode!! Any reply from MTV??? It would have been good to see what they could do with it!!! Imagine 30" flatscreen tv, in-built horse showers, mini-grand piano and bar for chilling out after competitions... lol. I think they would have to say no to the boomboxes as that would frighten the horses. I always wonder though... who fixes those made-up cars if something breaks down as they are then so customised? I doubt local mechanic will be able to help much!!!

I think your wagon has too much space, and they knew it would cost them quite a bit!!!

tasel - dont worry about people posting about your wedding as i know exactly what you mean. try as you might to keep the wedding how you want it you always end up getting bullied into taking on what everyone else wants just to keep the peace - been there with mine - although doesnt sound quite as bad

Thanks to all of you (WeeBrown, diggerbez and mole)! Finally some people that understood...

I do have the feeling that with some people on these forums... as soon as you bring money into the equation... they think you are a stupid, spoilt, little brat, and you can never make it right. When in real life, I believe there isn't really a halo hovering over their head... far from it.

Still trying to figure out why that is... I am not British, but have been watching how British society works with interest. I start thinking that there is some sort of deeper cultural thing going on, as in most countries I have lived in, people aspired to live a good life, etc. However, in Britain, it seems that if you do have such aspirations, many will laugh about you and try making you feel uncomfortable!?!? It's almost like they think you should never ask for more in your life than what you have... how dare you!!! I've asked other British friends about this... and they do agree with it - it's just that they never questioned why. But one person pointed out to me that the US mostly have TV shows about wealthy people as this shows the aspiration of its people (American Dream), whilst Britain has TV shows set in a random pub with people that have a pretty dire outlook in life because you aren't meant to aspire to anything better than what you have!!! I don't know whether he was right about his analysis of British society, but if yes, I think that's a very stupid attitude to have and will not get people anywhere. I am open for suggestions if people can tell me why that is so.

Yes tasel, that's why I won't allow any of the miserable soaps to be seen on the telly in my house. I don't know why many people can't just be happy for others who find success or who get very lucky.
I would buy that big red thing and live in it by the way, who needs a house when you've got that? Just load up and take your whole home when you go to a show.
grin.gif

It was a huge mistake in my first marriage to get married to other people's expectations. The lack of funds as a result, and my frustration that we'd spent our money on what other people wanted, caused huge rows. I say cancel the wedding that is arranged for other people, organise what you want, and buy a lovely trailer with living.
