this is a self indulgent post
Many of you by now know my horse, and also know he can be quite lazy
but i recently started playing polocrosse with my pony club who have just started it up. I played it on a friends pony, as merlin isnt really suitable
16.2,eventer and lazy = not great polocrosse pony
but i decided to teach him to play anyway so i could play at home with my YO's children and friends. he picked it up quickly, although the first time i played it with another horse he bucked and bucked and messed around
all in all hes played polocrosse about 4 times. he last played in July.
today friend was over on games pony and YO daughter played on polocrosse pony and i had the most fantastic time ever! merlin really got into it, and started to chase the pony i was following - even did flying changes
he started to really get going and turn quicky and thats not easy for a 16.2
i am also able to pick the ball up at canter and pass it
and i am teaching him now to be more calm when another person is tackling me
but we are getting there
he started to understand what was going on and he had his ears pricked the whole time
he was really enjoying himself
and now i think i can take him to a friendly match after our next event, to see how he gets on
sorry for such a self indulgent post
