Im struggling slightly... PTS question

If you have a horse shot there is always blood and finer bred horses tend to both bleed and have nerve twitches longer than a cob or pony.

I think it might be something to do with the medication they've had ( or not). Our 14.3 gypsy cob both bled and twitched more than any other horse I've ever had pts, and I've had quite a few, and I can honestly say that there was absolutely no possibility of any TB in her breeding but she had just had a powerful painkilling injection about an hour before the knackerman came.
Interestingly, I've had to clean up after an injection on one occasion (big, powerful ID who reared up).
OP thinking of you at this difficult time. The advantage of a planned pts is that you can arrange everything just as you want it, which isn't always possible in an emergency.

thank you everyone for taking the time to reply and sharing your stories it has helped alot to know what goes on and how to go about it. In answer to some of your questions, i do have my mum who could help but she tends to be rather cut throat with this sort of thing so emotionally i guess shes not really there (if that makes sense) i do have another friend who said she will drive him to the hunt for me and stay around until im ready to leave, i actually wasnt aware they hunt would come to you, i think this option might be best as he is usually a bit of a nutter in a new place, id like to think he was calm and happy in his own field.

and i have seen them winch a horse up before (work experience at the vets) and as all of you say theres no way i could watch my own horse, but i think for piece of mind id have to be with him up until the end.

i guess all i have to do now is make the call.

thank you again for all your kind words
