Imaginary horse shopping - just for fun!

There is a big problem with this thread *stamps feet. None of the adverts on the early posts are visible any more and I really wanted to see some of the horses described - especially the ones I linked to as I don't remember what I did yesterday let alone nearly 2 years ago!

Maybe we need to screenshot a photo as well as linking to an ad?

I'll have this one today please:

I think my heart just melted!

Today, I’d like this lovely chap:

Just up the road from me (hides car keys)

I absolutely would love this mare as a project for my next trekking horse, really tempted to go and see her BUT I don't have the time, need or finances for another horse, plus she is only 3 so would have her for at least a year before I could do much with her.

Very nice! I have a soft spot for Clydesdales. I’ve ridden a few, and there’s an amazing Clydesdale stud just long the road from me so I see the fields of mares and their gorgeous foals at this time of year.

I've become obsessed with menorquin horses they are rare and all black and seem to be a bit smaller and still very baroque compared to some of the more modern PRE

She’s very pretty! It’s so interesting to learn about the variety of rare breeds around the world. I follow a YouTube channel called Discover the Horse, in which a lovely woman is travelling round the world to meet and ride all the different breeds of horse. It’s absolutely fascinating.

I'd love an American Quarter or Paint, Reining or Cowbred and in a fancy colour, thinking a Palomino Splash White or a Grulla Frame Overo... maybe even a Pearl or Champagne if I was feeling extra bold

Interesting mix

If I knew what I was doing with a young horse, and could afford to feed/shoe/buy tack for a ginormous horse, I'd buy a Clydesdale like this beautiful mare:

I've been fortunate enough to ride a few Clydesdales and Xs over the years and they are stunning and a lot of fun. She's today's dream horse.

This morning, my HQ email alerted me to this one, which I'd definitely be enquiring about if it was the spring, although I strongly suspect the absence of a price means I definitely couldn't afford her anyway. Please, someone, give me a reason not to sell a kidney and buy her now:

If anyone wants to horse hunt for me on this thread please do. For the first time in my life I just can't be bothered but desperately miss riding and will shortly have an empty stable. Something about 15.2, not too chunky or big barrelled as I'm short. A forward, buzzy type. Welsh Cob types or OTTBs MAYBE. (I have a soft spot for TBs but am trying to be a bit more sensible this time around as I can't be dealing with any more ex-racer breakdowns for my own sanity). Must be a gelding due to yard rules. And within 2 hours of Cambridge.

Would you be interested in a buzzy, forward going Lusitano gelding? Going for 8k in Cambridge.

@IrishMilo have you got a budget in mind?

I don't want to spent more than about 7k. Which seems very do-able in this market as people can't seem to give them away at the moment! I'd look at the Lusitano, I'm open to most things but worth noting I do have jumping in mind for whatever I buy :D

That’s interesting re: the market. Is that specifically for the type you’re looking for, @IrishMilo or the market for buying horses in general?

The market in general. Prices have some down a lot again and I’m seeing lots of the same horses reduced drastically or readvertised. People don’t have money to spend at the moment.

Thank you; hopefully that’s good news for me and my plans to buy for real in the very early spring. I do imagine demand increases then though.

In the meantime, imaginary horse shopping is a lot of fun.
