Please send all your vibes and prayers to my poor Buddy tonight :(:(:(

At 3.30 I went to call him and his 3 field mates in, they were doing laps of the field playing silly running games. All calmed down shortly and came in no problem, tied Buds up to change rugs and saw every owners worst nightmare...
About one inch long deep bleeding puncture wound to his hock :(

Due to placement of the wound and I guess experience, vet was on her way within 5 mins, when she came he was presenting very lame, not weight bearing.
Vet referred us straight to the hospital, he was on his way within the hour.

We were met by all 3 practice partner, 3 of the top vets I could hope for.
He was a super star and I couldn't be prouder, he didn't complain or make a scene. xrays were taken straight away...

You can see a chip one the point of the hock and the vet is very concerned that the joint is seriously compromised. He has gone straight to surgery for a full flush, clean and anything else they do to stop it becoming it infected. But nothing is being promised, vets believe they will be working on him through the night but will ring me as soon as he is safely round from the GA.

So so scary :(:( Gave him the biggest cuddle and left in very capable hands, still can't quite fathom this is happening to my big gorgeous boy.

The vet said without surgery his chance of recovery is 0.

Please everyone think of Buddy and send him all your vibes, and hug your horses for me. I am so scared I will never be able to again :(:(
 
Oh god! This sent shivers down my spine! The biggest strongest vibes in the world! Thinking of u both and praying for good news
 
Thinking of you & Buddy. We were where you are just 5 weeks ago. Same scenario - horse in from field on 3 legs. Kicked on the hock, right down to the bone. Again, whizzed to horsepital for flushing & general repair. Slowly now healing, now able to begin walking in hand. Don't despair, vets can work wonders & you had it treated straight away - you can do no more. Big hugs ((()))

Oh goodness, poor pony and you. At least you have got him to the best place as quickly as possible. Hope you get positive news soon x

Longdog glad to hear your boy is recovery. Has it gone well?

Just want to get him home and safe :(
 
how terrifying for you, you're right you just never know what you are going to find when you approach their field everyday. I don't know what else to say than I really hope he is going to be ok x
 
Thinking of you and sending vibes! They work miracles these vets and seems you got him there quickly so that's always positive.
I always have phone on me when going to field never no what your going to find.
 
Vibes are working guys, he is safely round and up from the ga.
He has had two fragments of bone removed and the vet is happy that the joint should not turn septic thank god. He will be at vets till at least Monday, can't wait to see him tomorrow. Everyday as it comes now keeping it infection free.
