Inappropriate clothing... when with horses..

The best bit about having the horses at home is being able to do mornings and last checks in dressing-gown and wellies.
I remember years ago going down to yard in a fur coat and wellies to bring 1st horse in on my way out for the evening after visiting grandparents - used to do that almost every week!
But I did break my ankle when I went out to put oldie back into the field after her breakfast in just my sandals and slipped and fell in the yard. So I'm careful not to do that again!

Not the most appropriate attire!

Yes I have been out at night in my night shirt and crocs , also ridden in shorts with half chaps and wellies.

The only i make sure i do ( tho failed twice as wearing a cap i forgot it was a cap as had peak like scull cap)
is wear a scull cap. 2x didnt realize . Would never hack out intentionally without scull cap

the funniest thing that happened to me is i was wearing a t shirt that said GUINNESS WORKOUT , going down the lane pulled into passing bay , and a driver who had windows down said it does doesn't it . Embarrassed or what lol . Also when i used to work at T3sc0 part time the manages would never talk to my face ????? Now cant wear to skimpy tops

On my days off (because i live on the yard i work on) i've been known to do my horses totally commando in just pjs and slippers. i've been known to hack out in pj's too on my lazier days :) but then i do where undies and yard boots haha
x

If just feeding or poo picking then i will wear whatever is the first thing i grab....

If handling id never wear flip flops. Only because i swear my mare has it in for all toes on this planet. She has dinner plate feet and literally "aims" for your toes/heels.

But fif i was handling Sash id be quite happy in flip flops. but always better to be safe than sorry!!

A girl came riding at our place in tiny hot pant shorts and full make up. Looking good until she dismounted. Swinging her leg over she exposed her knickerless self - The uglyest minge Ive seen.

A girl came to the yard where I worked to go for an hour long trek wearing mini skirt, low cut top and high heels . Staff were looking after her until yard owner caught an eyeful and decided she warrented his personal attention , the funniest part was when she got back, stiff and sore (well you would be dressed like that for your first ride on a horse) and needed to be helped off.:D:D

I had a briliant sleeveless cotton shirt that was perfect for hot days. It did up with poppers all down the front.

So, holding horse for farrier (who was very very gorgeous), horse grabbed bottom of shirt and pulled. All poppers came undone and shirt completely open and pulled off. Horse wouldn't let go, farrier bent double with laughter (could have been retching of course :)).

Not my finest hour.

i don't myself, but a friend up our yard is always in flip flops! and her horse has big clompy feet...*cringe*

Someone on my yard does this and has a cob, the whole family comes up in flip flops and turns the horse out through mud, mucks out etc ewe yuk and ouch if horse were to stand on them

Tok me a moment to realise you meant flip flops! Had images of some lady mucking out in here underwear LOL

We had this years ago on a yard I was on, owners son used to come down yard once a week to give everyone the hay they'd ordered, he went round to the barn, there was a block of stables round there, there was a woman mucking out in her knickers cos she was too hot, he was in shock, not sure we had our correct orders that week lol

I lived at the yard for a few years and used to do the nag in dressing gown and wellies, and I too am a thongs/flip-flops/toe-post sandals person. Only been stood on once whilst wearing them (NF yearlings are surprisingly heavy ;)) but when it's hot I usually poo pick barefoot . . . . . .

OMG RebelRebel; LOL :):):):) how embarrassing!

The only time (once and only once) that I experimented with wearing a thong to ride in, me blimmin jods decided to split all up the arse, and there I was in a close-fitting top wiv nothing to cover the Great Expanse up with! OMG - and I had to ride through the village, past a building site and then the bus came along behind so they all had a view. Never, ever again!!!

have been known to muck out & chuck the horse out in the field on my way out in heels. New year 2011 was a good example when we staggered home at 8am and did the horses in party clothes before we went to bed!

I'm lucky enough to have my horses on the doorstep so if I'm riding bareback with just a halter then I have a 'if the horse isn't getting dressed for the occasion neither am I' policy so generally just whatever I'm wearing.

However in the winter waterproofed and wellied is the dress code!

And as for foaling due to the speed I leave the house when I see one of the mares ready to foal I think most of my foals have been delivered by a suspect looking person in pj's and boots with no socks.... because our washing machine loves nothing better than tartan pjs complete placenta!

I frequently (when I have a horse, currently horseless) hack out in a bikini top! Great way of getting the boy racers to stop speeding past you at 90 miles an hour! However, I would never do that on a horse I didn't trust.

I ALWAYS have proper boots on though. I just cringe at the thought of hooves on bare feet, plus, after the video we were shown for our riding & road safety in PC (a girl - well dummy - being dragged down the road hanging upside down from her stirrup) I will NEVER ride in anything without a heel. This was further drilled in when one of my sister's colleagues died this way :(

Sorry to put a downer on it - I'd just rather get on without a hat than without proper footwear - totally the wrong priority order, I know!!

Surely inappropriate clothing is jodphurs, boots, t-shirt, body protector, tabbard, hat, gloves - in this weather!! I was soooooo hot this morning and I got up extra early to ride...

These posts making me laugh heartily! I'm loving the thong flip flops!!

I always do the horse before and after work so am regularly dressed for work, but always change my footwear if I am handling. So work skirt and wellies is a lovely combo!

Also, in the winter, I will go to yard dressed for work on top half, and for yard on bottom half, then get changed inthe feed room. Not a problem as most of the people on yard are girls, but I did occasionally get caught out by a man, they were usually more embarressed than me.

Poo picking in my bra is fairly regular.

Hmm...a lot of our western show shirts have poppers, just have to be careful they're not too tight and keep out of the way of the saddle horn when getting on or off!
Worst thing I've ever seen was a decidedly large couple who came for a 2 hr trail ride at the place in Bandera we were staying. Both were non riders, she had short shorts and sandals on, he had 3/4 length linen trousers, trainers and no socks. He also insisted that he had to ride with a very large camera rucksack slung around his neck. It was 30deg plus, I can only imagine how sore they were when they came back - we were in the pool by then having enjoyed an early morning ride in jeans and proper shirts!

I ride bareback in skirts and shorts all the time ;) I am frequently inappropiate and will remain so until I become so saggy and wrinkly that I need clothes the keep the skin in the right places ;)

Flip flops, heels frequently.
wellies and skirts frequently when its muddy! (for yard jobs not riding i hasten to add!!)
Jeans for riding in.
PJ's under waterproof trousers in winter if no one is going to know any different ;-)
