Infact. What DO you all feed? :D

At the moment Jack is on Beta (urgh-y but does keep his weight down) and Quila is on fish4dogs....both will be going onto Skinners soon though as they do a light :D

Raw :) In a very amateur way :o

At the moment they are getting 4 days on chicken wings/drumsticks and 3 days on Duck all-in-one tripey food?

I hope that is OK :o Dogs seem to love it :)

Switched over to RAW and bones just over a month ago and am so pleased I did.

Chicken wings/drummers and lamb necks for brekkie. Then butchers offal mix or mince for supper with added eggs, mackeral, tripe or pilchards in marto sauce a few times a week.

They have never been so interested in their food :)

About 75% various raw meat, bone, offal, vegetables, fish, eggs etc. and about 25% Fish4Dogs kibble (fish and potato based) and their processed fish products.

She can't tolerate most commercial feeds, not even the rice-based ones. :o

Raw ( what ever i can pick up cheap ), or chudleys ( not on the same day ) depending on whether i remember to take the raw out the freezer or not.
Keela has gone from being a fussy so and so with food to sitting waiting in the kitchen at food time since we introduced raw into her diet. We don't and never have fed a set amount we alter it depending on her activity and by how porky or skinny she is looking.

Raw, anything I can lay my hands on. She's got a particular taste for tomatoes at the moment...

I've just invested in a chest freezer so I can have all my dad's pheasants and rabbits. I will pluck the pheasants and take the breast for my own, but the rest (and whole rabbits) will be fed to her.

Slice of toast or a weetabix for brekkie then for dinner Dr Johns gold with half a tin of meat a day.
Would love to do the raw thing but not sure how to go about it. I know you can get it frozen from pets at home but those who say about chicken wings and drummies. Do you strip the meat off the bones first, i wouldn't fancy giving her chicken bones in case the splintered.
maybe should have opened a new thread, don't want to hijack eek

Bakers complete - I know everyone hates it but........ my lurchers are fantastic on it, fit healthy, calm and full of life and my 15 year old lurcher looks about 8 years old. I feed adlib, the bowl is down all the time with food in and they just grab a mouthful when they feel like it. They also get scraps and leftovers. I tried all sorts when I first got my old dog - 15 years ago but he wouldn't eat anything else so have stuck with it. Oh and they both happily eat salad including lettuce cucumber and tomatoes and cooked veg and go mad for raw carrots

No, the bones only splinter when cooked. You don't HAVE to feed bones, but it's so so good for them if you do. Start with little bones (chicken wings) and move up.

Jollyes fish and rice (as it is low protein and the only think B does well on so far) with a couple of raw days a week (usually turkey leg or whatever I pick up from bargain bin/butcher)

Supplemented with tuna, eggs, veg oil, scraps, natural yog and a dairy culture during the week to keep it varied.

I'd rather feed Arden Grange or Skinners for the dry, but if it works, it works.

does it make their breath smell? (more than usual lol)
how much a day would i need for a dobermann around 30kg. and how much would i start with? and she is almost 5 so is it a good idea to change now?
OP do you want me to start another thread?

*coughs* Scraps *coughs*

She gets whatever we get with some dog mixer (generally whatever is on offer) to bulk it out if its not enough...

*hides from the RAW advocates*

Still, she has lasted 9 years so far with no problems and every dog in the family circle has been fed this was since the dawn of time...and they all live too flipping long! :o :D

Brown breed and black tae, Tinks, brown breed and black tae, never did them a day of harm :p

Just do a search on the forum - I asked loads of questions when I started about a month ago? I'm still not sure I am getting it right mind you :o

You feed 2% of their bodyweight every day, so I feed my greyhounds (21-25kg) 500g each per day? Mine are 3, 3 and a half and 7 and a half and they all swapped over with absolutely no problems :)

LOL! This is true..at least Tink gets meat every day, Im sure my grandparents dogs could go a week without any if theres none left! Oh, and they still have Favour occasionally!! Even I'm not THAT bad! ;)

1 on fish4puppys
1 on BARF
The rest on chudleys working crunch or classic and if the shelf is empty I get skinners, but they do better on chudleys.

They all get a BARF treat a few days a month.

I Feed Royal Canin to my lot, plus lots of huge bones, eggs, chicken wings now and again. The other day they all got a treat when I was given ayoung pig from the farm next door (its fellowpigs laid on it so not disease that killed it !).. not huge 7-9kg but even after gutting  etc there was some good meat for them and decent bones too, they all loved it :D:eek:

A combination of raw meat - whatever i can have off the butchers bones and all, eggs, whole fish, tinned fish (in tomato sauce or oil), fruit and veg - they help themsleves out of the veg basket as well!! and then I have Skinners for a back up in the event I forget to take something out of the freezer or they are staying with my mum & dad or sister. :)

They also get leftovers if there are any and will help themselves to scraps on the compost heap and minging dead things while out on a walk..............:rolleyes::rolleyes::D

Most of all they love their bones!!:D

Gah...
That hasnt made things clearer. Infact I'm more confused now!
My trainer says the cheapish PAH dry food hes getting now is no good for him, full of nasties etc & to feed skinners.
but tbh i'm SO worried about feeding him things that are going to make him bounce off le walls that a 'working dog' mix sounds like a terrible idea.
Feeding raw also sounds scary and a tad gross...
The bull dog will eat anything but Tyson just loses it on most things...

Honestly the PAH stuff probably has 100% more crap in that will make him hyper than skinners.
