Interesting as my wonky terrier also can't swim well. He's long bodied and sort of swims upright thrashing with his front legs. The physio said it will make his back worse if he swims like this so that's why he has the treadmill.I read somewhere that sighthounds are the wrong shape for swimming. Not sure how true that is but the only time one of mine ended up out of his depth by accident, his dog paddle was a pitiful and ineffective frantic thrashing so there may be a good reason many of them do not like swimming.
