Irish Draughts

Depends what you want. She looks a nice stamp and has a kind eye.
She goes like an uneducated ID which is because she is an uneducated ID!!
I’d struggle to handover 12k for a horse with so little natural balance but then I appreciate I like a different type. These types do have value for a specific market and if you like the look then worth a sit. I suspect she will feel rather green to ride though

I agree with all the above. She's long and unbalanced and that might be ok, but when they only show a 45second video and a 6 second one, you can't tell much. At best she needs a lot of work and a couple more years to find her feet and bring her back end with her.

Thank you @ihatework & @Rowreach very valuable feedback. Just out of interest what sort of price do you think she’s worth. Aware she will feel pretty green but tempted to go and view. I’m after a nice allround pleasure horse for low level xc/dressage & a lot of hacking with a nice temperament being key

Hard to say but in the first instance if I was interested in her I'd ask for some better/much longer videos (unless she's really close to you and easy to get to). Value is an odd thing because I would pay over the odds for a horse that ticked all my criteria, and she might be perfect for you. She would be nowhere near 12k here in Ireland though.

.

See, that’s a very difficult question. For me, she wouldn’t be worth nearly that, maybe 5-6k, because she isn’t my type. If I were to buy her it would be to put a hell of a lot of work into her over 12-18 months and sell her covering my costs with a small profit. For me her ceiling with some really good education and no major hiccups in the way is about 15k.

BUT for the job you want to do she may very well tick all the boxes do her value to you will be more than her value to me. In this market I wouldn’t be surprised if she achieved the 12k and if she does well that is what she is worth!

Hi all, I'm new to the forum & have started my search for an Irish Draught :) they seem to be like gold dust! Interested in your experiences of the breed in general & if anyone knows of a good one please let me know!
I love my ID mare. Would def get one again, I do prefer them with TB as they are a little more sensible with TB in.

My Late mare was a ID x TB, slightly lighter than my new mare - but honest - loyal - loving- respectful. Oh god I worshiped my lovely mare :( . Personally if I was buying again I would get a ID XTB x they do tend to look more ID than TB when they are mixed in my experience. This new mare is a bit of a donut . (not much inside with the spooking)

I have a purebred ID by Star Kingdom who is 16hh and fairly lightweight to me anyway . He's a great all rounder and a very easy temperament. I also have a 3/4 draught who is built like a Sherman tank and goes like one but is also the biggest stress head you could find, he's by Kensons Mosaic . Also had lovely but quirky purebred mare by Elm Hill a fairly old Irish blood line plus a couple of others but all so different but love them all.x

This new mare is more of a donut and spooky than my late x TB mare, I like the mixture, as i feel more sensible. I would buy another mixture, boy I miss my late mare. I also like a max of 16.1hh

1. My new mare
2. My late mare :(

Must be related to mare above - Queen of spooks, MAJOR STRESS HEAD. To the point I have to sedate her 5th NOV and this year having a curtain put up in her stable to stop her seeing the fireworks. I am now hooked on the breed and love all the livery ID horses who come in.
