Irresponsible Owners

Awful thing to happen but not the time and place to be having a dig at the vets saving your dog’s life, IMO. I’d be surprised in a local pub scenario if they couldn’t identify the person and make them liable for the bill.
Given that the stable close vets emergency care is always vets now at alresford, travelling only 15 more min for emergency cares is VV good.

Our ooh emergency is about 20 mins on completely clear roads. They are an initial £500 to walk in the door for exam, friend was grumbling 2 weekends ago, that her dog with d&v admitted on Sat afternoon was over 3k by Monday morning but his problems were resolved and he was home by 9am that day.

This, its why I moved vets as they stopped doing their own OOO care.
I did the same. I'd been with the practice over 30 years, didn't even know they'd stopped doing their own ooh until I needed it and had to drive for nearly an hour. I changed to a fabulous practice who have their own OOH plus a referral practice on site, have to travel a bit further but well worth it.

Woman in pub with mini dachshund this week just let her bitch sh!t on the path leading out of the pub, right next to the condiments/cutlery/napkins table and walked off. I was watching, horrified. I took one of our poo bags and cleared it, felt like throwing it on her table and saying 'I believe this is yours' but my OH would have been mortified!

I'd have done it! I once drove several miles to dump some litter in someone's garden that I thought they'd thrown into one of my fields (detective work on receipts). Turned out I was wrong and had to apologise but you saw the actual culprit in action 👀😂

I don't know much about cats but i was wondering can a young 8 months cat be happy leaving alone in a room ?

I work with people having addictions problems, they stay at the farm for 1 year, work hard and usually get better and get they're life back on track.

People suffering from addictions often have dogs, they are allowed to take their dogs with them.

However, we now have a man with a young cat, he just adopted him at a rescue center, the cat is still a bit wild, hiding under the bed.

The room is small and althought the man is nice to the cat, he is known for violent behaviour if he takes drugs or get frustrated, he is a man with a life long drugs history....

Last night, he showed me the cat, the poor thing was hiding under the bed, scared.

Most addicts can get frustrated and might take it on the cat, that's my main worry...

The cat can't go outside at the moment as he just arrived but with time, he might, meaning a probably nicer life for him...

In the long term, i really hope that the man realise that the cat can't really live in there and put him back for adoption again...

Fingers crossed, things might go well for both man and cat.

We have people with dogs too, we make sure they take them out and usually they take good care, we have more control over the dogs than the cat.

In the mean time, I will go and check on the cat daily and see if his behavior change and he gets more settled and happier.

This morning I saw a man with a beagle on lead so put my 3 on leads and got to the side of the path giving him plenty of room as one of my terriers is scared and ends up barking if dogs come too close when she is on lead … he didn’t shorten his flexi lead and let the thing come towards mine, terrier goes bonkers!!, so I asked him to pull his dog away and was met with , it’s alright he is friendly… I said well mine isn’t and she is scared so will you please take him away , and he said you need to let yours meet other dogs …. said terrier is fine off lead and meets loads of dogs but just feels trapped if on lead. I kept very calm and just said can you please do what I ask as my dog is uncomfortable . I’m very proud of how restrained I was but inside I was swearing !!!!

We’ve got new neighbours up the road who’ve got a young lab dog. He’s a gorgeous boy but could do with a little training. Or they could. 😄.
First time I met him he turned up at a flat gallop, no human, while I was walking all of mine up the road. No harm done, a human turned up while I was circling, keeping me between mine and him.
Met them again today, walking him on the lead. It’s a narrow lane and I had 4 so I ducked into a gateway. She stopped to chat, that’s fine, mine were sitting and not interested. Then he dragged her over, very stiff, head and tail up, growling. (Him!). Mine all looked hard at me, I’m so glad they think I’ll fix it. I asked her to take him away and she said those classic words… ‘he only wants to say hello’… I said that mine didn’t and he looked a bit scary. She did… and I think I’m now labelled as neurotic! 🙄

I'd absolutely have taken it over to her.

Someone came in to work (cafe) clutching a poo bag the other week. He was a bit shocked when I asked him to leave and deposit it in the bin.

I mean, what the actual?????

Rather that than a ruck happens. I bet she’ll be asking for training tips soon. I told a couple their dog was nasty the other day when it tried to have a pop at one of mine who was genuinely doing nothing wrong. They looked appalled-at me, not their ill-mannered mutt.

Even though this happened a couple of months ago, I'm still rolling my eyes about it. I thought I'd seen it all at point or another until then.

The big dog and I are up at the RVC hospital as he's due to be admitted for xrays and probable cruciate ligament surgery. It's 9.30 am, the waiting room is about half full with worried owners and dogs that haven't had breakfast (this is relevant) as they're probably going to have a GA. Most of the other dogs there are little and I'm the only one with big dog that's muzzled. Now anyone who's been to there will know that there's not a lot of room, it's rows of seats so you need to to be careful where you sit if you don't want people having to climb over you and the dog when they get called. So I'd sat myself on the end of a row and put the dog on the inside and hoped that no one would want to sit further in - pretty much guaranteed when you have 45kgs of hungry rott in his 2nd least favourite place in the world - his own vets is the least favourite - it's all a bit stressful.

In come this couple - very Berkshire if you know what I mean, older, very tanned but real not fake, red cords on him, jaeger on her with a lab on an unlocked flexi lead who proceeded to try and say hello, admittedly in a very amiable way to everyone in the waiting room canine and human. Luckily, a chi sitting on his owners knee tried to take his face off before he got to me so Mr Red Cords reels him in and sits down behind me. A matching black lab was brought out from the back and the big (loud )reunion commences with both dogs off lead, bouncing around a busy waiting but oh no, that's not enough. Next a metal food bowl is taken out, kibble rattled noisily into it and plonked onto the floor for the patient!! Can you imagine the puddle of drool around my feet...

Credit to the hospital staff, they subtly surrounded the feeding station and encouraged them to leave but what the hell were they thinking???

I think you have won!

Woman whinging on local Facebook page that she was asked by the manager to remove her (not an assistant) dog from the town’s Boots store where she was queuing up for a prescription. Asking for recommendations of pharmacies where she can bring her dog in with her.

Lots of support from the fur baby brigade, of course.

Just why would you think you are entitled to take your dog into a pharmacy of all places 🤷‍♀️.

I prefer to go to places that do not say dog friendly. I am not dog friendly, on the whole.
