OK, well I admit I'm not loving lugging water down to the yard, but other than that I am LOVING this weather!!! Sharp, dry cold with no breeze - proper winter weather!

I managed to think ahead enough to level the school to perfection before the freeze hit, so although it is frozen solid I can still walk school in there

Schooling tonight, with me and ponio both snuggled under a huge, thick, woollen day rug....... love it, love it, love it!!!

I don't mind it - but we have sheet ice here cos it keeps raining then freezing

Horses had to stay in all day today cos I didn't fancy doing a Torvill and Dean across the yard with them

So, as it has thawed enough now, I'm going to be a cruel mummy, rug them up, and chuck them out with loads of hay tonight and hope they haven't turned into ponysicles by the morning

Im getting a bit sick of it although my son loves the snow!! Im fed up with having no running water and having to defrost it with a hair dryer!!

If I didnt have horses then I would be loving this weather, but Im afraid not enjoying it very much!

School is frozen solid, and although flat has a layer of snow on the top, just not worth risking thier legs and hate the snow balling up in their feet. All I have done is hack up and down the main road all week which both me and the horses are bored sick of!

Also having to lug water to the field where J is isnt fun, although he does seem to be enjoying the snow!

Was supposed to be taking B showjumping for the first time tomorrow but had to cancel that as he hasnt been schooled since friday and will be wild

Yep me

apart from having to lugg water across the fields....ok I'll rephrase that...apart from having to get hubby or other livery to lugg water across the fields as I can't carry the jerry cans

its lovely. Its dry, no mud, we have sunshine and Cropi seems happy. I rode every day for 2 weeks when I was off work and wouldn't of been able to ride very easily this week anyway so I don't feel like I'm missing out!!!

I'm just grateful that I don't ride racehorses any more - they were 'fun' enough at the best of times so I don't envy the lads/lasses one bit when they have to get back on them after spending a week or more on the walker!

yes,it`s ok

am having to take water to the 4 in the big field every day as well as the ones at home.

but last year ,before we had the supply put in,we had 13 horses there.(it didnt freeze but they drank heaps-12x 25lts containers a day.)so it seems a doddle this year.

still prefering to cycle to work and cosy by the fire at night.

by the way, anyone notice how light it was at 5pm today?

I wouldn't say i'm enjoying it but I just get on with it, - I would like it to thaw now though - my yard is still a couple of inches under snow - can't believe yard it only a mile away from home yet outside house nothing - get to yard and it's snow covered, it does look pretty though.

No. Fields too frozen now to risk turning out fit horses and the temp outside is already -5.2. Chances of hunting on Saturday are non-existent.

I wouldnt say i'm enojoying it, but i prefer cold to rain!! & i'm sure the nights are getting lighter. Just wish it was warm enough to defrost so i can have a good schooling session!!

I love it too - wonderful clear crispy days wonderful IMO, sadly the others on the yard don't share my enthusiasm for this weather they are constantly saying how cold they are, how irritating the hose closest to their stable is frozen(er we have two indoor taps that never freeze, use them)
One person isn't putting her horse out at the moment because it's too cold, when it is peeing down later in the year the horse will be out, silly.
Makes me very annoyed!

NO!! I just spent the last 1hr40mins wandering round two 20 acre fields in a blizzard in search of 5 horses who were in the furthestmost point looking miserable when I did find them -despite the fact they have a nice warm shed with hay just down the hill! I'm frozen to the core! On the plus side they were quite cosy in their rugs!

Now that I've sussed out defrosting the tap/hose, yes loving it! Older horse is feeling the ground a bit so going to shut him up a bit more with his shelter and rubber grass mats as they're more forgiving but other than that it's a welcome respite from the mud.
