We're not :-( Its really really annoying me!
My daughters pony as per previous threads is being "difficult" at the minute and ive actually had to ban her from the roads until we get things sorted with him. I hate to think what would happen if she was to get caught in one of these down pours or even just the howling wind. My horse needs company really and no one is up for it! (also he is only just coming back into work and wouldnt deal with cars in the huge puddles either)
My old horse is getting out and about a bit though he's the least in need of work out of all 3!
My fields underwater so cant ride out there, am still turning out just so they do get some form of leg stretch but the field is truly awful- worse than winter....How much longer?
It only seems to brighten up whilst im at work!
 
I should, but after sweeping a river out of the barn, I'm having a cuppa and drying out, our house is now surrounded by water, the barn has a stream running through it, luckily avoiding the stables but catching the hay, cue filling every haynet I have to limit damage.
I'm sick of the rain
 
Ah no! nightmare.........

Last night i also managed to leave the tap running flat out flooding 2 stables and my hay shed...Happy days
I *should* be emptying the wet bedding out and replacing the whole damn lot right now not sitting on here really!

Kettles are so inviting ;-)
 
I managed an hours hack this morning, and didn't even get wet!! The heavens opened just as was untacking in a dry, warm stable.

Makes up for the fact I got soaked earlier doing the poo picking.....
 
No gap in the torrential rain when I would ride and to be honest the thought of wading through mud and killing off the tracks is not an incentive. Hoping it will be dry tomorrow morning

I dont feel quite so bad then! I'm not a complete fair weather rider normal rain wouldnt worry me on my old horse (not actually old i dont know why i call him that!) He's my safe horse!
but this rain is crazy and so sudden. Safe horse cant handle mud due to a fetlock problem or at least i prefer not to make him go thru deep sticky ground just in case so i have not choice but to get splashed at by cars- not much fun

On the plus side of course surely the hose pipe ban will be lifted and we can look forward to summer bathing!
 
I have been as there have been some convenient gaps in the weather/chances to get in the indoor school, although I confess that I just couldn't face going out in the cold and rain at 6am this morning so I'm paying to have him schooled professionally today instead :o (he's on full livery, so I'm not really really naughty) I'm a very bad horse mummy!
 
I have the excuse that the Dizz is still on her 'put a bit of weight on' regime, so no riding planned anyway :cool:

D1 is getting peeved though. Everytime she tries (and she doesn't have a lot of time with exams looming!), the blinking heavens open. We've had to postpone her lesson three times and counting...

Oh for an indoor school, or even one close enough to box to!
 
Nope - by the time I get home from work, the neds have been out for 12-14 hours and want their tea and warmth! Did manage 25 minutes Monday evening from 6.50 to 7.15pm on one but haven't ridden since. Frustrating but it's only short term and am consoling myself by thinking of the lovely grazing and cheaper hay we're going to get (may be delusional on the latter :p)
 
I schooled today and it stayed dry :) Pony went very well considering she's had a week off - due to me working. We even went over a small jump and practiced our dressage test for Sunday.

The weather was so awful last night I was toying with the idea of bringing a NATIVE pony in. Thankfully, we got a break in weather for a few hours and the ponies were fine.
 
I always have to force myself to trudge down the field and get tacked up etc but when I am out I still love squelching about in the mud and have a splattery canter on the track! Seeing cyclists and dog walkers alike with mud speckled all over their faces! We actually only got about ten mins of rain when out yesterday!

She does spook more at puddles and things on the roads mind, but luckily haven't encountered any crazy drivers (unusual)!
 
I dont think people with access to an indoor school should be allowed on this thread. They must be busy anyway, polishing their gold bars and sipping Cristal,......:-PPP

I havent been out as not allowed to ride for weeks because of a recent op, but TBH the weather the last two weeks has made me miss it less and also it was a great fortnight to have a horse sitter doing the dogs and horses three times a day ....they've certainly earned their pennies poor thing....
 
I have ridden in everything the weather has decided to throw at me tOday was the first time in over a week I managed to rain with out getting soaked through to my pants! Think the pony has relised the quicker he gives me the nice stuff the quicker he gets back tO his stable lol x
 
Yep ridden loads :-) Got a few to keep exercised as the fields are out of bounds. Sometimes time perfectly with gap in the clouds, sometimes get drenched ....
 
Daughter & I have up until tonight as its bouncing down. Been pretty nasty over the last week too & I would have happily given it a miss but 7yr olds don't seem fussed by getting drenched. And yes, i'm another wishing I had an indoor, we've been hacking & getting soaked.
 
Nope as my horse has been colicky for few days resulting in 2 vet visits:(
Fingers crossed he now on the mend and can start some gentle exercise in few days. Maybe when the weather improves :)

I've only managed two brief schooling sessions in the last 10 days. I've got a new saddle and sods law, there was lots of sunshine until the day I picked it up then it started to rain and only stopped long enough for a couple of 15 mins around the arena.
I'm not adverse to riding in the rain, however my baby neddy hates anything more than a light drizzle and sadly flatly refuses to leave his stable in this weather. I did try once but it's a little difficult to steer him when he has his eyes clamped shut and tries to trot backwards to avoid the water getting on his 'delicate' head.
So wish we had an indoor school.
 
I decided to go for a hack tonight just a quick 40 minute loop suffice to say I ended up taking the 20 minute shortcut instead!
 
Yesterday was torrential rain, all day :( cobs where shivering so had rugs put on. Managed to get the cob out this morning for half hour, its been raining off and on most of the day - the field is a wet muddy bog and very slippy :( its like winter.
Hoping to get the cob out again tomorrow afternoon after work.
