Jodhpurs.... splitting/wearing thin/tearing in the crotch?!
I know I haven't got the thinnest of thighs, I don't try to squeeze into too small a pair, but I always seem to be ruining them in that one 'delicate' place!! lol I thought I was even going to get away with wearing dark pants, so no-one would know.... but, luckily changed my mind, and had to bin yet another pair today - my favs too. Sad times.

I wonder if it's because of the stretchy fabric that all jodphurs and breeches are made of these days. I'm always pulling them up because they slide down at the crotch whilst gripping my calves like compression bandages.
After a few washes, the lovely soft fabric becomes stiff and less flexible, which is really annoying when they're expensive breeches.

Nope, I buy the cheapest cotton lycra jods you can get and they get thrown out because they get thin all over, or baggy, or rip, or the zip goes but I don't think I've ever had a pair wear out in the crotch. But WOW saddles have a different shape, with a dip that the fat inside top of your thigh sits into, so maybe that's why?

It tends to happen to mine after a couple of years. I've always assumed it's because I buy really cheap breeches. I've got a pair at the moment that I'll wear with black undies and a long t-shirt but not otherwise!

I have a favourite pair of jeggings that this has happened to. I would ride in them all the time. I still occasionally wear them as I love the fit (and unfortunately the same size/ style are completely different now, and are awful!).

It tends to happen more to my jeans than jodphurs/riding tights but I keep wearing them until it gets too revealing haha!

I've just said a final goodbye to my last remaining pair of black Gorringe Jods after the fly went (the fabric was going through at the back of the knees and stitching was giving up in various places too). They were just 23 years old.

I think this is why Gorringe struggled with their business model...you never needed to replace.

I have Gorringe cord Jods that are 33yrs old and still going strong!

Omg I'm so glad you've written this as I thought it was just me. I recently bought a Bridleway pair - had bobbling between the thighs after 1 wear so returned to shop. Swapped for dublin shona. Supremely comfortable but after 1 month, holes at the crotch!! Bough some equetech full seat ones to try to alleviate the problem. I'm sure they weren't designed for humans as they were horribly uncomfortable so I returned them. I'm now struggling on with Aubrion Emmons. So far no holes but they aren't overly comfortable. Oh nearly forgot, I also wore out a Derby House pair too. I'm a leisure ruder with 1 horse, riding a few times a week so I would expect my breeches to last ages. I'm not sure how well they are tested by the manufacturers but they really dont last long (and I can't justify a £150plus pair)

I referred to that bit as the "fanny gap" when speaking to the Wow fitter. She nearly choked to death on her coffee!

Another victim here. I rarely wear breeches - £12 Tesco jeggings are my preferred option, as they are just the right amount of stretchy, and pretty hard wearing. I don't mind that the crotch goes after about 3 months, as they are so cheap.

I have genuinely never experienced this. However, all my jeans - without fail - split above my right knee (across the soft bit just above the bone). It drives me bonkers and I've never managed to figure out why.

If you add up how much you've spent on cheap ones that wear out I think you can - most of mine come in about £100 (thanks to nikki Moxon and/or dressage with style both of whom I highly recommend) and they last me well over 5 years. That's £20 a year tops, I have 3 pairs that I switch about basically, they wash really well as well. So even 3 at 5 years each is £60 a year. I'd spend more than that on cheap ones that wear out

If my size was constant then I could justify it. But my weight varies by 2 stone.
