Millie is on a restricted diet. She is out during the day and in a bare starvation patch for about 15 hours at night. She gets one feed just to get her supplements into her.

I started her on NAF Slimline about 4 weeks ago but TBH I think she has put weight on rather then lost it.

When she is out in the field she is suppose to have a grazing mask on but she keeps getting it off within 5 minutes

!

How do you think she is looking weight wise?

I would rather she was on the slimmer side but she seems to think different!

I do think she is starting to look a little on the podgy side to be honest (not bad but don't want to risk her getting lami or anything). Will have to find a way of securing her grazing mask on better!

You bad bad owner - she is horribly obese

In order to ensure her safety from lami please put her in the post to me - she is adorable

Not looking too bad, considering the time of year, and the fact she gets her muzzle off! In fact pretty good, well done!

She looks ok but you wouldn't want her to put any more on. Can she stay in the starvation paddock and give her some soaked hay instead? That way she still has fibre going through her to keep her gut moving - and no muzzle.

I'd say the same as that is where my mare lives at the moment with soaked hay

Can you increase her exercise? It would help the NAF Slimline to do the job and lift her belly a bit. Her overall weight isn't so bad, it is just the lack of support and muscle tone through the mid section that is making it look worse

I think she looks fine tbh. She wouldnt want anymore weight gained though. I found that baileys lo cal balancer is fantastic for my horse and a friends dartmoor that is prone to lami, she always looks like a hippo at this time of year but since being on lo cal she is looking really good on a small feed but happy to know she is getting all her vits and minerals etc. Baileys has a option on the net site to email the nutritionist with all your horses details, work load etc and give you a recommended feed, have used it lots and is FAB!
Personally i HATE grazing muzzles. If somebody put a dominos pizza under my nose and muzzled me I would get mad :-(

There is no doubt in my mind that she is slightly overweight. In terms of condition scoring her I don't think there is anything wrong with her bum but she does have a big tummy and is cresty so would probably be a 3.5 ish. However it sounds like you are trying really hard to make her loose weight, wait a few more weeks and see hopefully you should see a difference.

Plump but not obese ( bit like me , really

) . You are obviously a very caring owner & your pony is gorgeous !

She looks fine to me from the pics, so long as she keeps like that, agree watch her weight but she's not what I'd call fat, prevention is better than cure though

So no need to panic just yet then, I will keep up with what I am doing and hopefully she won't put any more on! She's being worked about 5 times a week now so that should help as well.

Thank you all
