Is it wrong to want...

I spotted htat last night too - and while I don't necessarily want it for myself I was thinking of my aunt who *needs* a hat, and might be more enticed to wear one if it sparkles! LOL

Yes. :p

Are we going back to bling helmets now? Eep. When GPAs and similar (the early "new" hats with the stripe) came in in North America they sold "detailing kits" (like for cars) and people actually offered customisation services at the horse shows where you could take your new hat and have all manner of stuff stuck to it. They actually ended up amending the rules to, um, keep a lid on it.

There you go, your next business venture. :)

Booboos, I am the same, anything that glitters...magpie is a good simile. That's why I like the baroque so much!!!!! All that gold!! *swoons*

I am about to order a bling helmet  Have you seen the BR ones on Ooteman? They are much cheaper and have a simple vertical line of crystals down each side, I think they're quite understated bling, I love them :D

Wrong to want it? No. Wrong to actually buy it? Yes :D. (not really - each to his own)

...they sold "detailing kits" (like for cars) ......

When I looked at I did immediately think you could just buy the glittery things and stick them on any old hat - cheapskate, me :o.

See, I really like this, especially in the Navy but at nearly £400 what happens if you fall off in it?! I'm not sure I could bear to wear it on a horse for fear of ruining it!

Perhaps I would keep this one for posing and wear my champion the rest of time :D.

I'm a practical and understated kinda person, but, I love it. Its so wow! It would look superb with me dressed in black (and breathing in) on my beautiful black mare.

Maybe not so great for hacking out on the hairy cob with accompanying roadworkers hi viz jacket.:o
Put me on the want, but never will, list.

Shhh, I'm trying to give them aversion therapy, like when you make kids smoke six packs of cigarettes to put them off!

I think "Champagne" horrifies me the most. But I agree it's a close call. :)

I dunno, Passion is pretty vile! But just think - with only a small amount of effort you could have hats to match the browbands, pads and bandages, crystals in each colour-way. Of course it may end up being toney-toney not matchy-matchy, but who's counting ;)

I was at a RC area meeting yesterday and BRC has a whole list of rules now to try and contain the bling effect especially in dressage! Jackets have to be navy, black or tweed, no glitter etc etc

There was a big drama a year or two ago at the NAYRC when they made a kid change her approved helmet for a top hat because it had too much bling. Aside from the obvious fuss about the safety of her head, there was grumbling because they hadn't actually defined how much was too much in advance.

Am i alone in thinking these are HORRIBLE?!?!

Saying that, my head is on the rather large side so putting a hat like that on would make me look like a 70's disco ball....not a great look for anyone i don't think :(

miserable lot. while I do have a few sparklies on my hat I don't over do it. But why on earth should it matter so long as everything meets safety standards.

Booboo's this is the exact hat i have, it's in Navy & it is bloody lovely. The diamonte is very subtle but just add's to the hat.

Ive already competed BD in mine & had no problems, but if BD ever decide to be rediculous then the hat comes with a made to measure silk. So i can pop that on if i ever have to. Ive never loved a hat as much as the PROtector i ride in it everyday spending a few hours in it at a time. Very comfortable, very safe & just gorgeous to look at.

I've heard BD are going to be banning bling on hats....... Not sure how true that is though, and like dc says you can put a cover over it, kind of defeats the object though.

Personally i much prefer the plain Uvex's. I think bling on hats is a bit too ott.....

It would be a boring world if we liked the same ;)

I personally will never use a Uvex hat again after my accident, but again it's each to there own & i will admit they are nice to look at. I think popping a silk on a hat for a 4 min test is not a hardship but i think it's the rumour mill going wild again about BD banning bling.

Sadly my BDing days are over, I have no idea what the Federation Equestre feel about bling on hats!! I suspect that the wearing of hats altogether is not of great concern to them.

Glad to hear the blue looks nice. I might go for that for my (combined) birthday present and use the Uvex when it's really hot.
