Having encountered the lovely Equine Expressions Emporium today I know there will be many others out there who don't make themselves so obvious by offering to sell unseen!
OK yes, well some stand out a mile but there seem to be so many dishonest people out there I'm starting to see scams everywhere!Plenty of info on dodgy dealer and equestrian scammer fb pages. Scammers from Cameroon in particular are making new profiles on an almost daily basis so it's better to learn how to recognise a scammer rather than try to remember the multiple profiles they are currently using and which change regularly.
Fair enoughPlenty of info on dodgy dealer and equestrian scammer fb pages. Fair enoughI'm not sure it's a discussion we're allowed to have, if it's essentially a 'dealer' discussion.
Don't know anything about this particular place but most scammers make it fairly obvious to a normally intelligent/sober person because they don't want to spend a long time talking to you, only for you to realise it's a scam further down the line.OK great. Well then Equine Expressions Emporium are scammers who seem to be encouraging people to buy unseen, presumably to collect deposits from the naive/downright stupid for horses that are not for sale. They PM'd in response to a message I sent (and then deleted once I'd done a bit of homework) and gave the address of a poor livery yard near Bristol who have had to warn people of this scam on their own FB page. I sent a screenshot to EEE with an invitation to explain
So yeah, plenty of red flags and the majority of scammers don't seem that clever, but it makes me so mad that they try it on. Interesting that they now have a dedicated group!
Yeah, I guess that makes sense!Don't know anything about this particular place but most scammers make it fairly obvious to a normally intelligent/sober person because they don't want to spend a long time talking to you, only for you to realise it's a scam further down the line.
There are a few groups naming dodgy dealers on FB.
I would always treat with caution though. A dealer near me must sell 10 horses a week and every few months someone is on FB accusing him of selling them a broken horse because it went lame or started acting up after a couple of weeks. Out of 500 horses a year its not surprising that a few go lame or don't take to they new homes or riders, it feels very unfair.
I bought my latest one from a supposed dodgy dealer, I checked out a lot of the complaints against her and saw nothing backed up by evidence.
