Is there a thread of known horse sale scammers?

Having encountered the lovely Equine Expressions Emporium today I know there will be many others out there who don't make themselves so obvious by offering to sell unseen!

Plenty of info on dodgy dealer and equestrian scammer fb pages. Scammers from Cameroon in particular are making new profiles on an almost daily basis so it's better to learn how to recognise a scammer rather than try to remember the multiple profiles they are currently using and which change regularly.
OK yes, well some stand out a mile but there seem to be so many dishonest people out there I'm starting to see scams everywhere!

Fair enough ☺️

Oops that was to the wrong post

We can't discuss dodgy dealers, but can we name known scammers ( the ones that dont have any horses & ask for deposits to view / seling unseen)
The scammers have now set up a Facebook page, something like horses for new home uk, where the intro is about weeding out fake profiles & the only people that can post are the fake profiles 🤷‍♀️

One tactic they also use which is "we have lots of interest in this horse and have viewings lined up" this puts pressure on you to give them a deposit.
They will send you an address of a random livery yard or other place.

Car dealers also use the "we have viewings lined up" puts pressure on you to buy the car.

Use your head. Research, ask others questions on the dodgy dealer fb. You will get pms from people about their experiences. Don't go with your heart. Listen to people. A friend bought a pony without research and I told her the dealer was dodgy. She is now left in a mess. The pony was there but had been doped. She had no idea and bought it.

OK great. Well then Equine Expressions Emporium are scammers who seem to be encouraging people to buy unseen, presumably to collect deposits from the naive/downright stupid for horses that are not for sale. They PM'd in response to a message I sent (and then deleted once I'd done a bit of homework) and gave the address of a poor livery yard near Bristol who have had to warn people of this scam on their own FB page. I sent a screenshot to EEE with an invitation to explain 🤣

So yeah, plenty of red flags and the majority of scammers don't seem that clever, but it makes me so mad that they try it on. Interesting that they now have a dedicated group!

Don't know anything about this particular place but most scammers make it fairly obvious to a normally intelligent/sober person because they don't want to spend a long time talking to you, only for you to realise it's a scam further down the line.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense!

There are a few groups naming dodgy dealers on FB.

I would always treat with caution though. A dealer near me must sell 10 horses a week and every few months someone is on FB accusing him of selling them a broken horse because it went lame or started acting up after a couple of weeks. Out of 500 horses a year its not surprising that a few go lame or don't take to they new homes or riders, it feels very unfair.

I bought my latest one from a supposed dodgy dealer, I checked out a lot of the complaints against her and saw nothing backed up by evidence.

Our local dodgy dealer has a fair few supporters who always seem to shut down any posts criticising them. They also change their business name every couple of months, so if you search the recent one, you'll only find positive comments.
