So sorry to see this, he looks like a beautiful young horse. Every animal I've lost unless old age I've always thought what could I, should I have done.xx
I would absolutely say you have done as much as you can but it’s definitely worth the farrier having a look/conversation. We have a pony on our yard who had really bad pedal bone rotation from laminitis, she couldn’t stand for long it was heartbreaking to watch. We are lucky that we have an amazing farrier who made her some clogs and a cast to support her feet. She was on box rest for weeks and weeks… but she’s unbelievably come right and is starting to go out for periods and the clogs are due to come off soon. I honestly thought she’d be put down she was that bad but you’d not know she’s the same horse now, farriers are miracle workers!Just been on the phone to farrier. I have sent radiographs to 3 more vets as well as several farriers.
I don't want to make the call if there is a chance but I have spoken to more and more experts and I think that's it. I don't want to go down a rabbit hole and I don't want him to have years of box rest etc.
I’m so sorry, that sounds heartbreakingThank you trakky14 that very kind. Unfortunately I am hundreds of miles away.
Problem is the Lami is not diet related, its stress, so the pain and box rest etc is contributing to it, so I am caught in a vicious circle.
He has been down all evening so far, even with intravenous pain killers and Bute in his feed.![]()
