Is there anything you actually prefer cheaper versions/brands of

I'm a very recent Decathlon convert. I just bought one of their fleeces. It cost me £25 and is incredibly thick and really good quality! It doesnt stretch or slip back and is enough even in minus temps to act as a LW stable rug

What a handsome Bobbo btw.

Argh, if Aldi Aus brought their equestrian line here, it would be the answer to my prayers! I have a vest from them, the old Crane brand, which lasted for years and was just gorgeous. There aren't enough lower end brands... it's either $150-$200 for a pair of standard type breeches, or $300 for the big name brands. All I want is a pair for home, that I can buy for $50 when I need to.

I buy hooman things for my horses where I can, like shampoo, baby wipes, combs, rock salt. There's not a tonne of choice otherwise, have to go to Horseland to buy overpriced pink and purple junk, or some fancy store which has severely marked up their 'euro' products. I buy a lot of second hand stuff, and online too

I bought a turnout rug for £40 which imo is quite good. My mare spends all her time trying to shred it in the brambles and it's lasted quite well so far.

Another Woof fan but I get the club boots because they don't have any seams to rub not because of price particularly. The last two sets I've bought are a lot thinner though and they haven't lasted as well as an older set that I've still got.

I've had my horse 12 years and he's only needed one medium weight and one heavyweight T/o rug in that that time - both Rambos and still going strong.

Regatta fleece tops for me cheap, cheerful and last for ages.

B and M do a cheap version of head and shoulders shampoo that brings up my predominantly white cob whiter than white, I mean seriously it's like a miracle and it leaves her coat so sparkly and super soft!

Rugs. They fit my horse better and he doesn't remove them. He removes amigos with ease.

Bridles. Don't see why I should pay £200 for one when a £35 one works just as well.

Sponges/shampoo/brushes. Again why pay more?

Jodhpurs. Nearly all of mine are aldi ones.

Hoodies. Amazon or eBay have good deals and they are just as warm as expensive brands.

I really like the Aldi Jods. They are a bit thinner than most jods, but I prefer that for riding. If I'm cold doing yard work, I just lob my waterproof chaps on top. I actually hate these thick jodhpurs that are around today.

Shampoo, I just go to Home and Bargain. Also, good tip here- mane and tail spray- just go to Home and Bargain and get kids detangler spray. Smells gorgeous and does the same job for a fraction of the price. Current fave is Pepper Pig spray.

Thinks like gilets for the yard- nice thick ones with hoods from Primark, if you grab them in the sales as winter goes into summer, you can get them for about £8.

Same. Ever since I broke my knee if I wear a pair of thick jodhpurs I find they are too tight around my knee and hurt it. My leg does fit in there but it puts too much pressure on the joint. Thinner more stretchy jodhpurs don't.

the provoke purple shampoo will do the same job it's only about £3 give it a try I use it on my bleached hair and it stops the yellow look:)

Decathlon breeches - especially the waterproof Kipwarm ones! £30 instead of the £200 Pikeur ones that stop being waterproof very quickly.
Bits - Cotswold Sport do some spot-on Neue Schule and Sprenger copies, usually for less than half the price of the named brand ones.

Absolutely agree re: Decathlon breeches. They are so stretchy and comfortable but look good too.

Agree with the Decathlon stuff aswell actually!
I've not tried much but bought a work jacket which hasn't made it to work because I quite like it and don't want it ruined! It's nice for dog walking etc instead!
I spotted with excitement actually a Decathlon shop in Oxford last week (don't go to oxford much, it's probably been there forever!)
A trip to try the breeches may be called for after reading all these recommendations

I always go back to Tuffa Dereham leather gloves which are a perfect fit and design for me and only cost £16.99. For yard gloves the Aldi neoprene fishing gloves for £4.99 are perfect.

I always preferred Robinsons mane and tail spray but I no longer buy from them on ethical grounds so have started making my own (which is even cheaper and better).

I never skip on rugs or tack - I'm very firmly in the buy well, buy once camp there.

Anything by Shires - agree on all the comments re rugs and bought a fantastic bit from them, which is their take on a Neue Scheule universal gag, and just as good, if not better (and ony 29.99!). Again their leather work is good and love their leather girths.....

The Aldi reversible gilets (much cheaper than branded ones, just as good), Lidl cycling and ski socks are cheap, hard wearing and toasty warm. And the Aldi technical t shirt from a couple of years ago was a star buy.

I buy my hi viz from any workwear supplier with a good sale. Much cheaper, and meets the relevant BS standard.

The latex work gloves you can get from ebay in packs of 20 for about a tenner are great. Small, so they're skin tight, and you can actually do buckles etc without taking them off, and they have the same grip as your bare hand. I use them for carriage driving too.

And Hooks Europe! https://www.hookseurope.com/
They do some impressive copies of big-name (and money!) items - including a copy of the PS of Sweden High Jump bridle for 70euro, which has much better leather than the £320 PS of Sweden one, and a spur belly band for ~40euro instead of £100. They also do some lovely headcollars that are very reasonably priced.

Love Hooks! I have one of their show jackets, everyone thought it was a spooks one & it cost me about £50!

Most of my horse's rug wardrobe is either Robinsons or Derby House! All have lasted well, fit well and have never leaked - most of them a a couple of years old now. I do have a few branded rugs that I have either picked up on sale or second hand, I just don't feel I need to pay £100 for a rug when £35 does the job!

For me I mainly use Primark/ other cheap shops for t-shirts, joggers and fleeces! Have a few Regatta fleeces and jackets. I love heat holder socks and although quite expensive, I really rate my sealskinz waterproof socks and winter gloves.
