Is this poo normal (photo)

Hello

I have noticed when comparing both horses poop (sad i know) that Hannah's poop is alot harder and nugget like. This has always been like it since i have had her. She has up until recently been on grass which made no difference; on hay now. If its a hot day they go really dark in the sun and really hard. She poops regularly but they are always hard like this. She dosent drink excessively. Is there anything i could do ? Is this something to worry about? Thanks in advance.

They are dryer than ideal, droppings should break as they hit the ground ideally, if she has just gone onto hay she may not be drinking enough to compensate, especially if she is not a big drinker anyway, there is a risk of her getting an impaction so I would be trying to get more fluids into her, one way is a small feed twice daily of speedibeet which is very good as it takes moisture into the hindgut, soaking her hay may also help, it will not encourage her to drink any extra if you do this but will ensure she gets some fluids into her system.
 
My Pony's poo is just like this. When I poo pick for others, I've noticed their horse's poo often isn't in nuggets like my horse. Nothing to worry about though.

New mum's are always comparing the bowel habits of their babies. Having said that no doubt I did it too when I had my babies!
 
Looks normal to me, each horse is a bit different. One of ours has always done quite hard greasy balls no matter what he's fed. He's 32yrs now so it never did him any harm!
 
I am a bit obsessive about poos (quite a statement I know!). I think it looks like a normal healthy one, a good colour and texture. I would be happy with this poop from one of my boys.
 
Thankyou for replying everyone! Glad to know they are normal! BE POSITIVE- thankyou for that suggestion, im starting on hard feed soon i think as its pretty cold so ill look into that speedie beet :)

One of mine is like this, he is on soaked hay all through summer too and its still little nuggets. On the plus side I always know who's poop I'm poo picking:D
 
Have you taken a picture of my horses' poo? :D

My geldings is always nuggety and he always has soaked hay and wet food. Only very rarely say when the spring grass comes through or he has antibiotics do they become wetter. The main problem I find is that they break up easily meaning mucking out is like searching for hundreds and thousands :D

Don't venture on to the chicken forums or Facebook groups - they are utterly obsessed with the stuff. There is even a chart of acceptable poo and poo where the hen is ill with various things. classy

If you want your horse to drink more, you could add about a dessert spoon of salt to the feed. Having said that, all horses are different and the main thing is that their poo stays the same. The time to worry is when there is a change from 'normal for him'.
 
Those poos would not be normal for any of my horses and would have me feeding extra salt and keeping a close eye .
But it is what's normal for him .
 
Himalayan salt lick in the field/stable & 10g per 100kg in feed per day if necessary. Supply fresh water daily. Some horses can be fussy with their water & won't drink it if it's stale.
 
Looks alright to me - just like H's in fact - he has mostly soaked foods owing to his age, plus ad lib hay, hi-fi molasses free and a little oil.

P on the other hand does bigger, softer lumps and is on pretty much the same diet, but doesn't get the oil.

They both get grated succluents like carrots, swede, apple and parsnip (I know its fussy, but it's because they're old and pick out the goodies first given half a chance) in every feed, so no shortage of moisture in their meals.

Each is an individual so I wouldn't worry too much unless it changes suddenly to something that is not normal for your horse.
