is this ragwort?

Yes, it's one of the crucifers I think. Hard to tell which one from the pictures though - lots of them grow wild in this country. Could be a mustard, or a wall rocket, or something else in the same family - they're all really similar looking so you need to look at features of the leaves and flowers using a hand lens and a key to really ID them down to species level I find!

ETA: Crucifers are the cabbage family, and whilst they're not good for horses, you can eat most of them! None are toxic to humans as far as I know, the leaves are usually pretty good in salads!

Excellent and definitive update!

I used to pull this one up too thinking it was ragwort until someone pointed out that it wasn't. There was loads of it. If you've been looking after your fields, ragwort rosettes tend to pop up randomly but this stuff seems to appear en masse. In my experience anyway.

Can quote as on phone but yes ashtay, it just seems to swamp the field. When I originally posted we had only been at the field a few months so hadn't seen it flower but there was just something about it that didn't feel like ragwort, hence the post. I've been pulling up for years and thought I was pretty good at spotting it even when it was tiny
