Is this the most stupid thing I could have done?

Well the headcollar is £150 and the leather leadrope is £110 in the UK; the helmets are £450 so £4000 for the saddle and you paid under £3000?

Who would pay that just for a headcollar and leadrope though??:confused: I'm actually shocked lol.

OP I reckon you've paid roughly £2700. I really don't have a clue though :p

WHAT A BARGAIN!!!!! :D
Your hubby can't argue with that really - is he into cars? Compare it to expensive car stuff, that should work. Or has he ever bought anything that was expensive but seemed a waste of money to you? Just bring it all up again and say well now it's equal. Always shuts them up :p

Yes, he loves Italian cars and knows how much they cost so I'm hoping that will go in my favour. I intend to keep the saddle for my Anglo Arab who will look amazing in it. Perhaps it will defer eyes away from my awful riding.

And you only bought one :D

That's a great deal - how much are they normally as couldn't find any prices for them in UK so thought they be stupidly expensive!

I would tell hubby that the halter & lead rope was £300 first so managing to beat the guy down to just over £1500 for the saddle, stirrups AND girth was an amazing once in a lifetime deal!

Wow, i thought It'd be LOADS more - as I couldn't find the price by googling it - even though I know you got a deal - but what a fab deal !!

Yup, stirrups are now required.

It's worth talking to the vendors at these posh affairs actually. I went to another stall to buy a saddle rack and they didn't have any small change so they let me have it for free. It should have cost £20. They are actually really nice. The guy on the Devecaux stall was so sweet and let me smell his saddle soap!

I really like it millreef!

Blinking good bargain there... If I was a husband, I'd be quite proud of the wheeler dealer in you! :D

I like it....ask hubby if he would mind if you spent 4000 on the saddle then say what about 3000 if it included all the extras, if he says it wouldn't be so bad at that price then tell him what you got it for. ;)

Does look very nice indeed! Not quite as pricey as I'd have guessed either. Nice one!

Now remember when husband asks tell him it was £833!

That is one gorgeous saddle, I would risk marriage counselling for that :D

Now my advise would be to spend a bit more on some expensive italian lingerie ;)

Thats SUCH a nice saddle! Id have gone for it too!
I dont like with the red on the website though, thats too much! but your saddle is gorgeous and I want it hah

It's a beautiful saddle, much nicer in black as well. I wasn't sure about the unconventional shape at first but it looks great on a horse with a numnah, and it looks very comfortable as well. And it was a bargain, I'm sure a stud girth would have been about £500 looking at the prices of everything else.

Good luck telling your husband! He'll probably be alright with it though, if he understands Italian quality etc.

Millreef.. you can actually say to the likes of Jeremy Clarkson that you are the proud owner of a Lamborghini
How much, dare I ask, did it set you back?

Great idea!

*stores in tiny brain for future use*

Wow!
As for hubby, do you really need to tell him you have a new saddle at all? Then you don't need to lie about the price!
Or you could just tell him you bought him a Lambourghini. :-But that could be cruel when he finds it has no wheels :-)

Well a lot of the saddles advertised in Your horse are well over 2000 so it was a real bargain it is lovely too so good all round And they don't have all the extras for that amount, I was horrified
