Is this the very worst rug on ebay, ever ????

Has someone contacted the seller about this thread ??? :p LOVE IT !!!

Still no bids.......and we were talking about it at the yard, it must break ebay rules about hygiene haha !!

Have you seen the second hand teddy she has for sale for 4.99 plus 3.99 postage! Bloody hell - there is nothing like pricing yourself out of the market!

We sent a rug, the same make etc. as the one for sale to someone, for free, as it was missing its lining and had a couple of tears in it, but she thought she could give it a new lease of life :) (did wash it first - I think :rolleyes:), anyhoo, it cost less than five pounds to post...

Ooh, what was your question? And dare I ask what the answer was.....?

I think it was 'What do you aspect [sic], it's used, dont look if your not interested' or something like that anyway - cba to go back and look again but it did make me lol...

I am very interested, but in a 'horrified fascination' sort of way rather than a 'going to part with some cash' sort of way:p

Ok, I looked...

Clearly, this person is a natural at sales - someone call Lord Sugar, we've found his next Apprentice!

Oh, its my birthday next month, I'm off to text OH and see if he will put a bid in for it. Would make a lovely birthday pressie :D

The best bit is "was professionally cleaned last year" Its irrelevant whether it was cleaned yesterday or 10 years ago... its filthy!! £8, that bit really made me smile today :)

It's certainly not the worst rug I've seen on ebay. I bundled a whole load of elderly rugs together in sizes and sold them some months back. They were old, grotty, dirty and some needed mending and were described as such. They were enthusiastically bid on but went for around £7 per rug, I found very cheap transport for them and got some very delighted feedback from people who wanted to be certain they had suitable spares or extras just in case but didn't feel the need to have a bundle of brand new rugs hanging around doing nothing. One lady wrote me such a lovely email after having received the least nice rugs I sold telling me how they were a lifesaver as she'd had to take on an ancient mare that turned out to be in foal and she was frantic trying to work out the pennies and being able to buy rugs that in her words "would be covered in mud within a couple of days" at such cheap prices had meant that she could budget better. I had some more rugs in her size that I hadn't listed for sale as I thought they were too far gone so I just packed them up and sent them to her as a gift. She was so delighted! My rugs don't ever look pretty because I've never found reproofing works as well as the original so I hose and scrub the insides clean and leave the outsides to stay as waterproof as possible for as long as possible - after all that's what the horses have rugs FOR , to stay dry and warm, not to show how pretty the rugs are.

So really come on ladies, get over yourselves. Just because you wouldn't put anything like that on your horses remember that some people (and some horses) would be really grateful for it. If you're not in that position then well done to you, some of us though would find taking on an extra horse or horses and having suddenly to provide a new wardrobe for them somewhat beyond our means and for those people your grotty old cast offs could make a big difference.

Just to add, no I'm not the seller of that rug:D

i've got no problems with people buying or selling anything in any condition, if people want then they will buy, simple as that but when i sell things i make sure they are tidied up a bit, brush the mud off the rug and photograph it sitting over a gate or something as on the floor just looks even messier.

i pity the poor person delivering that rug though!

But £8! I think not. Start it at 99p maybe or 0.01p but £8! for that!

If all the fasteners still work and its still waterproof, who cares that it's dirty? It would be 30 - 40 quid new in the shops and it costs more than £8 to get a leaking rug cleaned, reproofed and possibly repaired. Maybe I'm a tramp but I don't think that's that bad, and a good deal if you're local and don't have to find the postage money.

Hmmmmm, I see where you could say the rug could be a "lifesaver" to someone - I am not rich, hence I look at rugs on ebay :(

BUT for what is on offer, the price is ridiculous. Trust me, i scrutinise every 5'9 and 6'0 rug going. I think the main issue is the hygiene.

This post is really just on for a lighthearted laugh tho ;):p

Oi. Thats MY rug! Y'all are just jealous because you didn't have the idea of selling off your stuff on ebay! And because y'all don't live in a smoke free home (I can't smoke because my 72 cats, 14 dogs and 12 pet house flies would get lung cancer)

I previously used the rug to housetrain the puppies, they used it like newspaper with NO need to remind them, isn't that clever?!

Classic.... ;-)))))

...Well I would care that it was dirty...I would never put another horse's rug on either of mine unless I knew the horse well & knew it didn't have ringworm or lice or anything else similar.

I would expect any rug to be washed before selling it...I do buy second-hand rugs, but they are always washed first.

I have to say having youngsters, i get through rugs and am always getting my friends and anyone i can finds cast offs and some of them are in a far worse state than that but £10 to clean and repair to me is far cheaper than 10-15 new rugs.
But all that aside i think the seller is taking the pee, £17 for a rug that needs cleaning and repairing and the postage, that to me would make about £27 i could go buy a new rug in the sales for that price.
Cant see anyone buying it, and i hope they dont money grabbing baggage

It never ceases to amaze me that people try to sell dirty horse items. The number of times you see "a bit muddy" or "needs a wash" etc etc - well, ****ing well wash it then! I wouldn't dream of offering dirty stuff for sale but then I'm a bit anal and wash my stuff all the time anyway. No rug of mine would get into that state in the first place
