Isabell Werth at YHL - anyone else go?

And if so what did you think?
My ears are still ringing! :D
With my very limited knowledge and ability
I thought she was very intense with the less established combinations. My brain would have been fryed. She clearly liked Alice and her horse. She wanted a lot of inside bend most of the time, but with one combination, can't remember which one she frequently wanted outside bend. I could see with many they were bowling on too much and she was wanting more collection, but but they(horse/rider) weren't adjusting enough or were taking too long. They certainly got value for money. I haven't seen a demo with her before so was very interesting.

i agree it was very intense.
I liked watching Alice the best though I thought the others also did well to follow all the instructions, especially as having ridden in a similar kind of environment I know the instructions come loud and clear through the speakers facing to the audience, but the person on the horse can't always hear it that well

I think it would have been greatly improved if she had done a little assessment of each horse at the start and told us what she thought the strengths and weaknesses were, and then a little explanation of the exercises to improve the weaknesses.
Her passion was infectious but it came across more like watching a series of lessons than a demo, without some elements directed to the audience rather than the riders. OH lost interest and abandoned me at the interval!

Are the YHL demos filmed for H&C?

It would be interesting to watch the IW demo as Alice was one of the riders with Ingrid (I thought Ingrid was excellent) and it didn't appear to be an enjoyable time for her (my opinion, could be waaaay off the mark). It would be good to see the difference in teaching styles and the exercises given to the riders in comparison to how IK taught. I'll need to check back the IK programme and see what horse Alice was on, it would be a bonus if this is filmed/going to be televised and it is also the same horse.

I've watched a few of her clinics online and I think she's is fantastic - a super teacher and very positive! I 'd love a lesson with her, though the clinics were with v experienced combinations and I'd like to see her teach someone more 'normal'

It was Headmore Davina at the IW one I think.

isn't it interesting, because although I absolutely could feel the enthusiasm oozing out of her, I didn't think she came across very positive  I thought if i had a lesson like that I'd come out feeling like I couldn't ride! o_O

I agree it was more like watching a number of lessons than any demo I have seen before and that most of the time she seemed like she was micro managing riders that are already very experienced, although arguably not to Isabelle's standard. She mentioned to a number of riders about their hand positioning in the half pass which I thought was interesting. I often notice a difference between what should be and what I see even in very experienced rider's, in lots of ways, not half pass particularly. I would have liked to know why she said a number of riders needed to lean back at certain times.

I was there and I absolutely loved it, but I agree that it was more like watching lessons, than a dem, but I love watching lessons so that was a positive for me. Yes, she was intense, but I loved her focus and attention to detail, and positivity, I could have watched her forever.

I think I've just realised I've been getting Isabelle Werth and Ingrid Klimke mixed up! I've watched a few Ingrid Klimke clinics. Give me a brain and I'd be dangerous!

haha! Oh in that case I would agree, I think IK has a natural warmth which I didn't get from IW. And while I'm sure she would be very demanding I don't think I'd feel quite so useless :p
