My guess would be that it's simply too expensive for individual people to defend their copyright. Music copyright has big money behind it.
.

Its not that, its really easy on YouTube its just a form to fill in. So there must be something else that does allow it. I vaguely remember the Tara video person saying Tara repeatedly tried and failed to get her videos taken down.

I just looked and YouTube has a few pages about fair use but I can't be bothered trawling through them, its there if anyone can be bothered though. I can't get the link to work, but if you google "fair use on YouTube" there's a pretty clear explanation of it.

To me it depends on the person, if they are claiming they are being successful in their way of training and leading their viewers to think they are correct, it's intentional and it's bringing them success then I feel comfortable highlighting that it is not correct and not what should be aimed for. I would not hold another rider who is clear that the have a young horse, or that they are learning, or that it's not yet correct etc in the same way, of which there are many; I would also not highlight someone that hasn't produced the content with the intention of it being publicly viewed en masse eg: a friend/someone who posts without influencer status or most other people bar content creators. That is the distinction I have made - if you therefore do not like me then I am happy to accept that.

I think, even when amateurs, when people start putting out content which they monetise and hold it up as good practice without any self-evaluation it's a different thing to someone just sharing things on SM. Or people who will share things and openly address that others might not do things the way they do or discuss things that may not be ideal.

I agree about the screenshot thing. We could endlessly find unattractive, awkward, messy moments but lots of those really will be moments.

In RWC case I'd say the shot is representative of her riding but agree that sharing the video is fairer so others can make up their own mind. It's kind of sad that she feels the need to inflate her results because I am sure so many people out there competing will relate to a much more grounded and realistic take on the ups and downs of competition.

I wrote for dressage at Barbury yesterday and the judge was absolutely taking marks down for tension, BTV and poor contact.
