It’s definitely Thursday today - is no-one posting it...???

Supposed to be hunting Sunday but have a nasty feeling that snow will spoil the plans. I don't want to tow if there is snow settling 😣

Heatwave here, 33 degrees today and similar forecast for the weekend. No formal plans for the weekend, but riding will be early morning and then maybe hit the beach for fun in the sun and swimming, without the horse.

Dressage tomorrow weather permitting. Talk of going to the gallops but again will see what the weather is doing. Olympia Wednesday!

Busy one for us :) 1. Awaiting vetting report on a pair to be translated. 2. Prepping C for his 3rd indoor ODE. 3. Helping out JTFD including a cheeky catch ride on super Fern 4. Viewing a pony down in Kent. 5. Indoor hdt down at merrist Wood.

:D

sickly feeling of nerves was polite lol. I hate this as my new horse is a legend. just rider idiot issues

I agree with J1ffy - if you tell yourself that you are an idiot and you will believe it. Stop it immediately :D

Repeat after me "I am a competent and confident rider" (I forbid you from saying it's not true, or rolling your eyes while reading this ;) )

Do you know how I know this is important? Let's just say that I will be chanting this to myself about 100 today ...

There was a really good series on e-venting about it recently, definitely worth a read! http://e-venting.co.uk/?s=mental+skills

Agree - that was really good!

Busy one for us this week!

Work tomorrow morning, dash to the tack shop to pick up feed and some bits and bobs. Run through tests for Sunday, run clippers over cat hairs, tidy mane, bath and pack Lorry. Then we've got our yard Xmas Party at the football stadium, buffet, fun casino tables and disco - really looking forward to it :D

Early start for dressage with hopefully a not too sore head! Doing Nov24 and 37 so we've had a crash course in reinback this week as the venue (unaff) have decided to not run 37a (!? the current test). Because no one wants to do Nov37 there are only 4 in it so my time actually ends up before Nov24 - so much for a warm up test!!

Working tomorrow all day... Then have to find the time to do two horses and get one ridden and spotless (a grey!!!!) for dressaging on Sunday which will probably be cancelled due to snow... :(

Due to snow my weekend plans no longer include, clipping and having a lovely hack today and hunting tomorrow. I will now be riding in the little indoor school because the main school will be frozen and trying to convince madam that staying in her stable all day isn't cruel and unusual punishment, oh and de-frosting the freezer.

The only good thing about the weather is that I can just put the contents of the freezer in the garden and it will stay frozen.

Silver linings and all that..!

Had a fantastic time on the Cotswold Farm Park fun ride today :) The ground wasn't great in a lot of places, but that is hardly their fault given the time of year and the recent weather, and there were lots of places were we could get some lovely canters in :) :) Jensen ran out of steam at about 8 miles lol, but we will definitely be back when the weather/ground has improved - we jumped a few fences but there were loads more that I wanted to try, I felt probably not the best time to do so as I'd managed to leave my whip at home!!!

Damn weather. Undecided about arena hire tomorrow for Kira, it will depend on whether we get the snow forecast or not. Having to do extra time on my no-snow dance as OH is hoping we get a big dump!

So the quiet weekend continues, the oldies were napping when I arrived today

and Salty got the gold star for getting straight on the box this afternoon. Last time I loaded her she took a bit of persuasion so I'm really pleased that it seems to have been a one-off. Another couple of weeks and she can go out and about a bit.

A fun ride today?! Wow, that's incredible. If we didn't have snow, you'd have been bog snorkelling in these parts :D. Glad you had a great time.

Arena eventing (today) and winter league SJ (tomorrow) both called off due to weather.

That's why I live in Gloucestershire :D

No snow here, just a partial hurricane and rain so perfect day for stressaging!

It was our yard Christmas Party last night so having got to bed after 2am, i was up at 6 plaiting! Head a little sore and body a little weary i really could have stayed in bed but as I was taking a friend I had to push through!

The weather was horrific but thankfully as only two of us showed up for that test they moved us indoors, unfortunately the end by the judges has lots of advertising board which sounded like they were about to be ripped from the wall so that caused some issues for us at that end but overall she worked really well and i was really pleased as it was a difficult test for us in difficult conditions.

We only really picked up rein back again on Monday after giving it a few months rest and she really listened and didn't tense up about it, judge said it wasn't in diagonal pairs so got a 5, I don't know how else she would have done it (if not diagonally) so going to get that video'd this week so I can take a look at it! Her counter canters were spot on which is new again for us so that was promising. Need to do some work on the medium trots, one was completely muddled going towards the corner of doom so deservedly was low, the other though felt strong so need to take a closer look at that too. Otherwise really pleased with 68.9% under a tough judge in very trying conditions and lots to take away and learn from!

Karl Greenwood also does live chats about confidence and mental issues for riding on facebook, some of which are quite interesting.

Thanks guys, definitely going to look at these.

LeannePip, gorgeous photos. Love the jacket - what make is it?

Well, despite snow overnight Friday to Saturday and on Saturday morning, SJ clinic was on! It snowed as we were going round but I can't say I noticed it much - too much else to think about. Much better than the first time I jumped share pony. Got complimented on a fluid round and told that we had a real connection. Trainer is very nice but straight talking and has known the horse for over 10 years so means a lot. On cloud nine all today. I think the owner might have taken some pics so fingers crossed :) had some real bad years horse-wise I can't believe my luck!

Lovely photos as usual LP!

No snow here today, just lots of wind and rain! This is my first time riding (or seeing Henry!) in a few weeks, so it was very nice to be back on board. He got clipped this week, so he looks very smart. He's definitely feeling very well at the moment, so rides have been rather fresh! Saturday's hack was a bit like riding a coiled spring, although he was a very technically well behaved coiled spring which is nice because previously that would have been an opportune time for spooking and generally silly behaviour. Decided not to ride today as time was running short and weather was horrible, but had a good lunging session and got some lovely medium trot work out of him!

Then it was off to the PC AGM and bake off, where I got a prize for the cake, and also a lovely cup and impressive looking frilly for best allrounder/good horsemanship :)

My little mare was so wild at her first competition that rara had to hold her head up for her in the warm up... She couldn't have been much more chilled out if she'd been on tranquilisers. Which is all good.

photos (with social media use) of her being cool:

I could post a video of her round, but there is an audio of idiots - sorry, a pair of highly expert spectators - who are criticising our every move :rolleyes3: Apparently they would have trotted the may pole and have her reining back between two ropes to keep her straight (among other nonsense). She's 4. It's her first competition. She was hesitant and a bit backwards - BUT - she tackled every obstacle sensibly and calmly, and I'm not going to jeopardise that attitude for a few marks at a local competition...

Anyway, Fergus was his usual fluffy self, and did a decent round in the Open with me, with a few silly mistakes, for a 3rd place yellow ribbon. And then did the other half of the pairs class with rara for a ridiculous 91/100 PTV and full marks in the CoP, meaning that we also picked up a nice yellow ribbon for the pairs too.

Hairy midget:

Weather reduced an already minimal weekend to not a lot - hacked out Saturday and was very grateful for my thermals, good dumping of snow kept us at home yesterday and the clinic that I could have done was cancelled anyway.

Another one whose plans have been cancelled thanks to snow! I was looking forward to spending today and tomorrow at AM Dressage (having missed the last two times I've booked there due to Nationals (them) / work). Sadly it wasn't third time lucky as we couldn't have gotten our lorry out, and Adam texted YO last night to say their lane is impassable anyway!

We'll re-book for Jan and I've just registered for their test riding clinic in March. I WILL get back to AMD! Only been the once and loved it.

Stupid damn snow, what a disappointment, jiffy :(

No way I was getting the lorry out today either, we skidded and slipped down the lane to the yard this morning on an ice sheet and the horses are in the boxes for ANOTHER day. Grrrrr. I have to lead them down the road even to get to the paddocks so no chance of turnout.
At least it's looking like Olympia will be OK! :D

Crazy weather! Up until this morning I've managed to get them out every day for a few hours but this morning I could barely stay upright it was so dicey icey- I would think this evening will be the same but I should be able to get them out tomorrow. 36 hours indoors as a one off won't hurt too much.

I even managed to ride on Sunday and I have now found Ms button for a fab uphill canter transition! (Instead of falling into it downhill on the forehand button that I've been pushing since he arrived lol)
