I am so sorry. May his sweetest memories stay with you and make you smile at unexpected moments.
Sounds like he went very peacefully, and you have lots of memories to treasure forever. x
We spent the last couple of hours together in the sunshine this morning.
He would wander along eating the tasty grass on the verge, and then wander back over to me to tell me to scratch his belly
The vet arrived and my good friend, Fiona, hovered by me for support and to take over if I wanted to walk away.
The vet sedated him and I rubbed his head and kissed him goodbye.
Then I handed him over to Fiona and walked away. I just couldn't watch him drop.
The last memory I have is him looking at me to see what treat I was going to get for him![]()
Fiona and the vet told me he just sank down and went to sleep in the sun.
It was peaceful.

Your emotionally stronger than me Oberon - when I lost my mare I could not face coming back here on the web so quickly.
