Right you guys I've made my first reply tonight but now for the first thread  so my mum breeds CKCS and for the past couple of months they have been really really itchy they are constantly licking/chewing there coats (on there back) she's had them to the vets who have taken bloods/flea checked and nothing comes back  she has these little T-shirts that the vet advised but in honesty that just stops the biting there coats...now she was hoping it might have been coat changes that were causing it but it has gone on far too long so anyone any ideas my mum is getting very peed off let alone the poor dogs :(

Gazey's mum could help!

Know nothing about Cavs but has she discounted diet, household products, pollen - trees, grass, flowers - surface contact with a carpet or flooring surface, fragrances, cigarette smoke.
Has ANYTHING changed? Like the floors, building work, a new lawn? New dog bedding?

She has thought of everything CC nothing has changed at all she's had Cav's for over 20 years and had nothing like this before:confused: which is why she's getting so hett up over it vets can find nothing..but its effecting two of the four..hormonal perhaps:confused:

She has a Ruby 18months Black and Tan 24 months these are the itchy ones..
The Blenheim and Tri are alright ...they are 3 and 3.5 years old...Both of the itchys have had litters last summer....

Her old ruby 11 years young is fine:)

ETA the ruby hasnt had puppys she wouldnt join the club :(

if everything else has been ruled out id think behavioural?

have actual intra-dermal (sp) skin allergy tests been done by a dermatological specialist? if not, id advise that before looking at anything else.... and get them on evening primrose oil as it contains GLA (which the likes of cod liver oil doesnt) which can help with easing itching and breaking the scratch-itch cycle.

Well she is still a wee bit young in fairness!

Maybe hormonal, I don't know?

My fella took until 12-18mo before his allergies became apparent.

Has she tried changing food at all? Mine are brother and sister, brother can't take high proteins or wheat, sister could eat cornflakes and still look well!

Yeah I think she tried the Ruby on her last season just to see but nothing she always waits till there third season before trying to mate up...alot try on there 2nd which she always thinks in her opinion is too young...maybe hormones but strange to be affecting 2 but I suppose are around the same age...anyhoo she's seeing a dermatologist in the week for tests...just wondered if anyone had any clues..Thanks all:)
