fab pics LP! super Ruby strikes again <3
Hope everyone else is having a good weekend.
I survived the wedding ( I really don't do social occasions!) and took Kira for some arena hire as planned today. I wish I'd had time to school her a little yesterday as she's always a bit tricky after a day off, but having made the effort to get out and about, we used the opportunity to ride through some tests.
AM98 is not as difficult as first thought (phew) lost a bit of activity in the canter HP, they are the steepest she's had to do so far, so not a surprise and just need more practice. Obedient changes and the trot didn't close up too much. Not as through as she can be but Ok for a work in progress

And then in my wisdom i thought we ought to have a go at A100, she had done nearly an hour's work by this point so was a bit tired! but it was a proof of concept thing... no rush at all but good fact finding. Had to pause in the middle of the canter as we had a crow invasion during which she got her tongue over the bit
I think I know where the weak spots are and they are all fixable, we just need to keep on doing what we're doing really. Main things today (aside from running out of petrol) were simple changes need to be more organised and forward, the loops on the 5 loop serpentine need to be more through so I can get her straight to ride the changes and then we won't have a mistake. That should come together as part of our other 'stay forward on 10m circles' programme of work!
The 4 tempis will be fine I think, it's mainly the boring bits that join up the movements that are difficult to ride well enough these days. Funny little thing!

I think this has made a couple of things fall into focus for me, the school where we are at the yard is really making it difficult to keep the momentum in her training because it's always full of jumps and poles so I find it hard to stay focussed on riding correct lines as they appear in tests. We have to slot a half pass in where there is space, for example, rather than being able to aim from one letter to another and ride a defined line. Which means either more regular (twice weekly?! ) arena hire, or move yards.. hmmmmmmm.
