This afternoon felt distinctly 'spring' like in my part of the world!

The sun shone as I rode and gave off some proper warmth.....

I saw bulbs coming through as I passed people's gardens.....

There are buds on the trees.....

The fields suddenly looked 'not so bad' in the sunlight....

My horses were still happily grazing at coming in time, rather than hanging around the gate....

It didn't get fully dark until 5pm.....

The birds are definitely coming back to life too, and can hear far more birdsong in the morning and the occasional coo coo of the woodpigeons. I know it will be another couple of months until we can say good bye to the mud, but things are definitely moving in the right direction!

Definitely longer days, it was pretty light here until 4.30 today (Lincs) we've had such mild weather the grass hasn't stopped growing all winter - my farrier has had two cases of Lami in the last few weeks the grass is that rich still!
Unheard of

Remember that January could still come in like a lamb and go out like a lion!

But have you noticed that the nights are getting lighter :)

My grass isn't still growing ... I have no grass :( My paddock resembles a ploughed field and the horses have had to be stabled for the last few days as its so wet and muddy.

We did have some sunshine today and the nights are definitely getting lighter but I'm not getting too excited just yet!

My field is just mud, there is no grass but agree, ponies are bouncing, birds are singing and the catkins are nearly out!

my OH says at moment the days are extending by about 1min 12 secs a day and that will increase shortly so hsng on in there. snow or no snow spring is looming :)

If the S is gong to come wish it would then we can have it over with and get on with spring, but must not complain we have been pretty lucky this year so far

To me January is only halfway through winter and anything can happen yet, whether the nights are longer or not. That said, at least we have got half way through with it being mild for most of us (not so much for those in flooded areas).

You wouldn't say happy and spring like if you saw the river running through our fields! Its actually flowing :o
Took me an hour (usually 10-15mins) to get to the yard yesterday due to severe flooding on the roads and im in Kent! We never get it this bad.
Just hate to think how much snow we will get if the temperature drops and we still get this much rain :(

Can't see locations on phone, but you def weren't in Surrey yesterday afternoon. It took 3 hours to make a 1 h journey due to flooded roads and I had even more detours to get back as my village was cut off. Again. I'd settle for the bloody snow!
