Hi all!
i posted last week asking about Section D's - i've always wanted one and now i have one!!
i hit the jackpot at the Welsh Pony & Cob Sales at Bilth Wells on Sunday! I initially had my heart set on a dark bay/black 10 yr old mare who i know would have been worth every penny as i've seen her at shows and my friend had judged her etc - the money went a bit too high and i had to walk away, gutted. Anyway sunday came and i missed out on another black mare. Decided to leave the auction ring and go shopping for bits and bobs...then she caught my eye...a dark chestnut chunk with a flaxen mane & huge tail! Only 4yrs and a LOT younger that i'd planned, but she was SO friendly and nosey, gave my a massive lick..we turned around and went back in to bid on her. My friend did the honours as i thought there was no way i'd have her, then the words.."she's yours!" - a monment i will never forget!
She's a star! Very babyish but SO loving and as i've got the help of my friend, who's very experienced, i think she'll work out fine. We both rode her last night, very green but eager to learn. She'll have a home for life with me.
Had to share my news! Im so happy...
Any advice on a young Section D??
xx

i had a 6yo section d on loan to break in (3rd pic in my siggy) he was very babyish and had the mental age of about a 2yo lol apparently they do take more time to mature than alot of other breeds

his owner brought him from an auction as a yearling for £65 lol papered and everything

I love them! Had one on loan and have helped back/ride several others- all mares, all very sweet if highly strung individuals. I want another!
Hope you have a wonderful time together.

Congratulations!

My friend has recently purchased a 6yo Section D mare from the sales and is so pleased with her. She was broken as a 5yo so still green but very willing. I'm so glad it is working out as I spotted her at the sales and it would have been my fault if it all went wrong

Congratulations and I hope you have years of fun together.

Having bought my first youngster who is now 3 (where have the last 2 years gone?) I can say it has been a huge learning curve but I don't regret it.

Used to ride a section D year ago - he was very strong but would get you out of trouble no matter how badly you put him at a fence and I adored him - cleanest horse in the world and would do anything for a can of coke.

How exciting for you! I hope it all goes well. I used to have a Section D on loan many moons ago - they're useful all rounders.

welsh D's rock, they are the best. my second pony was a D (i still have her, im a bit big for her now cos shes 14.1 and nearly 5ft 8inch!) anyway she took me from a 4 inch pole off the ground to 4ft 6inch point to point jumps, and shes the best hunter. if u have a good D u are one of the luckiest people. have lots of funwith ure new D.
