I've had enough of this horse shopping

not easy to find
That’s the first get in the car horse I have seen in months he looks ideal for my search
A bay version of him would be ideal for you .
I was seriously tempted to bring forward my serious search when I saw him only the extreme distance held me back .
My budget for this purchase is not more than twelve k
I know of a horse for sale for £12k. I think he may be a bit old for what you want and he’s an ISH not an ID but he’s lovely. Google Serena James equine and look at Corky. If I had £12k I’d be snapping him up!

ETA - here’s the link. http://www.serenajamesequine.co.uk/horse-for-sale/

Thank you for that link he’s not what I am after too tall not enough timber

Thanks, I’ve been keeping an eye on Emily’s Facebook page but he hasn’t been on there and I didn’t realise she had a website too. It must be as a result of the Facebook ban. He looks lovely.

I was going to suggest Emily Chambers too. It's much better if you phone her. FB ban haa caused a lot of issues.

Thanks for these, I have seen most of them and discounted them for one reason or another.
214282 has a pretty consistently dodgy BE record over several years. While I don’t necessarily want to affiliate, I do want to at least do unaffiliated 80/90 and he’s obviously not reliable even at those heights.

I haven’t ruled 214832 out completely but I’m a bit concerned about him looking for a new home after only three months. I phoned about him earlier today but the person was competing and was supposed to get back to me but hasn’t so I’ll try again tomorrow.

I phoned about 213083 a while back. She had a 2nd viewing on him and was going to phone me back if he didn’t sell. She didn’t, so I assume he sold.

The last two are too far away (the oxon one is actually in Scotland!). I have already widened the search area but East Anglia is at least 5 hours and Scotland, well it’s 7 hours to the border!

i was trying to answer some previous posters who were saying your budget was not big enough , there are horses out there but many are not in the right part of the country for you to realistically view. i know 214282 hasnt been consistent but he sounded like a nice horse and sometimes lack of constancy can be the rider as much as the horse.

the skewbald with the sarcoid looked very smart, and i wondered if the owner had overhorsed themself and made the excuse of lack of time. you will only know if you can try him yourself...

i knew the east anglia one would be too far as i am in east anglia and wouldnt travel to cardiff to view..

i will still keep an eye out for you, you should be able to find what you want within your budget.

Ah I see, thank you for the support! I think my budget is enough too . The one I nearly bought was £3750!

I think your budget is fine and ok you have certain requirements that can't give but I don't think there unreasonable, I think it will just probably take a bit longer to find what you want, hope your leg is feeling better soon so you can get back in the saddle.

I’m very confused about all the comments about budget not being high enough as I’d expect any horse over about 13 hands in ridden work and that’s not a very green youngster to jump an 80cm course and do a prelim dressage test, and without an affiliated competition record definitely wouldn’t be paying more than 7k for it! I also don’t think distance is holding you back too much either as 2 hours from Cardiff covers a decent amount of places. The only limiting factor I can really see is no mares and that’s outside the OP’s control. I also thought that no greys was more of a bonus at this point and not set in stone?

I would want to see some better photos or video of this one jumping before going to view, the ones on the ad show a very green horse, that may be uncomfortable but could just be poor photos, either way I would not expect a pro to use them so they may be the best they could get, he is a nice enough type if a little lighter than I think the OP wants, I suspect he will ride a bit like the tb that was lacking in front.

Indeed ! What on earth is the 2nd photo supposed to show?

I like this type I have two atm but these pics are not great .
The only one I like is the of him cantering up the field .

Yeah, looks light to me too, but these warmbloods can be deceptive in action shots. I think it is a green jumper - the description reads like it is.

annagain, looks like good one on hQ 212001, south west newton abbot, aa route planner says 2 hours six mins from cardiff...any good?

That looks lovely but is attached to Dan Sibleys name going by the video. He’s not got a very good reputation round here, although I’ve had no direct dealings with him myself. Search him on Dodgy dealers.

The cynic in me would ask why on earth Dan Sibley is selling this for 5.5k. It’s 6, established enough, why wouldn’t he pop it around a handful of BE90/100’s and double the price?

Certainly worth a call, but for me this would be an eyes wide open / ask the right questions one if nothing is disclosed up front

Probably because most of his horses are knackered. It looks quite dead in its mannerisms to me. I thought he was in prison and his sister was taking over or something. Might be too many rumours there tho.

Thanks all, I've already been warned off Dan Sibley. Even my non-horsey friend who lives in the area has heard of him - and not in a good way!

just as well you all know about him, i didnt....horse still looks nice though but has probably been schooled in draw reins as he doesnt take his nose forward and is fixed in his outline..
