I've had such a scare at the stables tonight!!!(long sorry)

Went up to stables tonight and as I walked in heard my old mare neigh as usual..but then heard Foalie neigh very unusual then ponio neighed even moreso

so walked onto yard to see foal has escaped into the area I keep my waggon and OH keeps one of his cars (Jaguar XJS)....thought nothing of it until mum didnt appear...well the daft mare had only gone and got herself stuck between the boundary fence solid (12ft high) and the waggon and the car.....shes walked down the side and couldnt reverse back out

fortunatly she hasn't panic'd foal hasn't got upset that he couldn't get too mum...but you know when you look at a situation and think how do I get out of this one...well managed to squeeze past the waggon put headcollar on and push her back inch by inch when she banged something just let her realise it was fine and moved her back some more...the relief when she got out was immense for me, her and foalie who was desperate for a drink her bags were very large

...walked her back to the stables and she was dog lame

but what a shock I still feel abit jittery

I have no bloody idea not sure if Rio's gone through the gate he always seems entranced by that part of the stables ie somewhere he's never been

and while chriss was in there bringing him back she's spied the long grass growing up the side and fancied it!!! not told Paul yet his Jag is now minus a wing mirror

Oh god! glad she and baby are OK though luckily you found her there and was able to get them both out ok....cars are mendable....ponies slightly harder and more expensive lol

Oh I'm sure she has the look of relief on her face

Been meaning to put some on but he just looked so damn scruffy...but all his coat has now evened up so will give him a brush this weekend (brushing is his favourite pastime sends him to sleep

) and put some on just for you Slinks

Your so right about the cars...but wish she had been a pony rather than a 17'3 brick ----house not quite so easy to manouvre

luckily she seemed to understand the *rescue* idea

Crikey glad she's OK, good girl for not having a panic moment!

Had one myself a few years ago and I know how awful it feels. Went to feed our shire horse, he lived in a 25 acre field, couldn't find him for ages, eventually discovered him on his knees underneath a barbed wire fence with his long mane all caught up in the barbed wire. He must have been there all night judging from the state of the ground. Middle of nowhere, driving rain, howling gale, freezing cold, had to run nearly a mile to the nearest house to borrow wire snips, got back and started snipping, shire (19.2) panicing and sliding around with those huge feet waving about. Got him out eventually, both of us exhausted and shivering and plastered head to foot in mud. HORRIBLE!!! never forget it.....
