Neddy has outgrown her full size bridle as it is a little tight behind the ears and across the brow.

I'm thinking of getting her a Jefferies IR and wondered if anybody else had one, what the quality is like and are you happy with it.

Thanks

Jo

Funnily enough, I just came across the cheap ebay copy of the IR at approx £20 to Jeffries £210

I like the idea of the noseband attaching from both sides but am not sure about the over the head cheekpieces (would worry that bit would be unlevel in the mouth

) The headpiece looks fairly good though (not quite so bulky as the Stubben ergonomic number).

Out of the two though, I'd still buy the Jeffries though

I've got an ebay copy of the IR, the leather isn't half as nice and Jeffries but i do like the design, it isn't bulky at all and because the strap for the cheekpieces is quite tight on the headpiece i'm not worried about it being unlevel, may be a different story once it's had abit of wear!

I have the Jeffries IR bridle in Havana. The leather is really nice and supple and the bridle is very padded.

Size wise I found it to be bigger than his Kieffer (these were the two I compared) - I bought a full and I have it on the smallest settings whereas the kieffer is on the middle holes.

I really like it - rate it much higher than the elevator which I didnt think was actually that nice.

I am in the same position. I'm just trying to find out if Elevator will sell me a single headpiece. I Understand if they won't as if everyone was just buying a headpiece it would be no good for them!

I like the cut of the IR around the ears though, so may well just go for that anyway.

It is very nice and priced about the same as the Elevator but I think the quality is far superior. Dont think Jeffries will sell you that headpiece either.

They do a comfort snaffle which is very similar but it is not shaped. Otherwise you should have a look at the Kieffer ergonomic bridle (I have these) as they are also really nice and padded. The IR is in a different class though!

A horse that I ride has both snaffle and double IR bridles and they are lovely.

Would definately agree it's superior to the Elevator (which IME stretch really badly as well) but I personally would go for the Albion KB as the nicest of the lot.

I like the cut of the Jefferies I must admit. I have always bought Sabre before my Elevator so don't have any idea of quality.

Jlav I think the Albion comes with reins so a bit cheaper!

Coming to this thread a little late now but... I have the IR bridle and think it is fab. The padding is really soft and has stayed soft, unlike many padded bridles. I found the size round the ears quite generous, my mare has a cob size and it is perfect, but her Sabre cordoba is full round the ears and cob everywhere else. I spoke to Issy at Stroud Saddlery (who designed the bridle) and she told me they were bigger round the ears deliberately as many bridles tend to be too small there.
