I have the biggest mix of jodhs and breeches in the world as basically I pick up bargins as and when I can.

The best best best pairs I ever had were two pairs of Mears (as in the jacket makers) breeches which i picked up for £10 each. The problem though is that it seems they were 'samples' and have never been able to find any anywhere since.

I still have both pairs though and are in remarkably good condition though do admittedly need a bit of bleaching. The full suede seats are still impeccable and the waists do a incredible stomach holding in feat! They are what errrr 8 years old now only problem is on one pair the zip needs replacing as i may have tried to put them on in a rush when the zip was only half undone! whoops!

Other than those i picked up 3 pairs of eurostar breeches in those clearance sales last year and they are fabulous. 2 pairs are offwhite so confined to shows only but i got a pair of green ones at the same time that i wear almost all the time, they wash up as new and the fake suede seat is fantastic. Again seem to have incredible stomach holding in qualities!

errr *thinks what else has in wardrobe* got some harry halls both normal and 'sample' pairs, which i quite like though a few have just a bit too much syntheticness to them and if I have shaved my legs too recently cause a rash (eg winter wear only

)

got various others as well trying to think of the make that have fallen apart far too quickly but err can't and can't be arsed to go upstairs and check! LOL

i would always recommend breeches over jodhpurs though and also high waisted and full seated are musts if you can

I agree about breeches being better, I find them much more comfortable and definitely find that high waisted are more flattering (if skin tight trousers can possibly be flattering!!

Thinking back over the jods/breeches I've had I think my Dublin breeches were probably the best. Not at all impressed with those new Just Togs ones, they're a fab style but just haven't lasted at all (same thing with their long leather boots!)

I bought some Hac-Tac Classic beige breeches recently on eBay, and they are very comfortable and warm, both in AND out of the saddle! I'm so happy with them that I'm thinking of buying another pair! And they are a 27 inch inside leg with velcro strappings, so they fit my short legs without me having to take any length off!

Toggi Vesta (think that's what mine are) - really nice jods.

Equitech are also pretty long lasting

further to the Jods / Breeches saga!, I bought a pair of Shires breeches today from eBay - they are so very comfy and warm, 95 % cotton and they feel very soft, like velvet, but aren't too thick or too thin. I can get my boots on over them (I don't have zip-up boots cos zips break!), so there!

I had a look on the Shires site and they appear to have an enormous range of jods and breeches, and the prices seem very good (around £30 a pair for some), I might buy another pair from their site in the near future... you can never have enough breeches, esp. in our rainy climate!

I've been happy with my Pikeur and Eurostar breeches but the best value ones (and a similar quality) have been my Mark Todd breeches.
