I am starting up an online petition against the use of Rolkur (Hyperflexion), on Horse and Hound. This is a place to sign the petition, not get into a debate about Rolkur. Please do not post more than your username. I would also appreciate it if you would vote in the poll afterwars.

There's no actual petition though, you have made no formal application, no argument, no information about who you will be approaching about it

If this is just a 'I don't like Rollkur' thread then fine, and feel free to add my name, but the talk of 'armies' and 'petitions' without any actual petition seems slightly odd... It is also a public forum so surely you would welcome discussion?

There are good online resources if you are interested in setting up a proper petition, where any signatories details will be correctly recorded and therefore will form a more formal/persuasive argument. Adding anonymous names from an internet forum may be interesting 'market research' but I think you will struggle to get it taken as seriously as it deserves to.

I suppose it is just a *I don't like Rolkur thread* :) When I first started it, I didn't expect anyone to post. If i could review my intial post now, I would make substantial changes. I did think if i got lots of people, (Although I didn't think I would) I would send it somewhere. Only remembered later I don't hae real names :P. I made it an army just cause..I thought it would be more fun :D Good idea about the disscusion thread, I may open 1. (Although I find it quite hard to picture someone on this forum that supports rolkur)

I am young (still ride an 11.2hh :P) And still at school so am not responsible for my actions.

I feel I have to post here as I have equally strong views that riding a horse in Rollkur is no different to a ballet dancer doing the splits. A horse may look a bit uncomfortable in this position but who can say they have gone to the gym or an aerobics class and not felt uncomfortable at some point!

Top competition horses have the best veterinary care and nutrition and dressage horses are now frequently sound and still competing international Grand Prix at 16 and 17. Many ordinary horses are past it at this age!

In order to be very supple you have to be able to do extreme stretching and it is no different for the horse. I cannot understand why you are all so quick to believe that top competition riders are automatically also cruel to their horses.

I have a mare who is actually more comfortable being warmed up in an overbent frame (Rollkur to you) and if I watch her cantering loose in the field she can often be seen in this position before doing a flying change as this is the most comfortable position for her!

Perhaps this is due to an obvious misunderstanding of what rollkur actually is; the whole point is that a horse who chooses to be overbent isn't in rollkur, as the definition of rollkur clearly states that it is achieved through aggressive force.

A ballet dancer can choose whether or not to do the splits, it is something she is trying to achieve. The horse has no notion of this. Overbent and Rolkur are not the same thing. A horse can overbend with no pressure from the bit.

Firstly, sorry for long delay :p, I will soon be remaking this topic, as I wish to make edits to what I wrote initially, and I am unable to edit it. I will assume that everyone who posted here is willing to support the new thread ( Same apart from minor tweaks) Unless they let me know.
