As title really! Still in shock. The drivers are normally so good round here, but obviously this pr*ck thought he was something special!

We were out on our own and coming up to a junction opposite shops where we turn left to go home. i saw this pick up come zooming up and go past the road we were in. He then stopped sudddenly, slammed it into reverse and shot backward, no reverse lights either i might add!!! Luckily Josie and I both saw it coming so I quickly got her on to the curb, not quite in time enough for my poor knee which got a bit bashed, but hey atleast it wasn't Josie.

Bearing in mind this is the horse that wouldn't hack on it own, and neither would I, she would nap and spin and has only been working under saddle properly since baby D appeared for 2 months. She was better than I EVER could have hoped for. She stood quietly and clamly once we were on the curb for me to shout abuse at the w*nker and up turn my stick to whack it on his cab. Then calmly walked off. She is a star, my true horse of a lifetime.

He incidentaly told me to get my f*cking horse off the road. I told him in no uncertain terms if he had touched my horse he wouldn't have live to tell me where I should put my horse.

Wish I'd got his number but was so upset and wound up I only remebered when I got back to the yard.

What a day!!!

His car actually hit your leg??

You should have got his number plate and reported him.

If that failed I would have whipped him instead!

Hope you are okayx

Is there any chance there could be a CCTV camera there - if so get there quickly and ask (Police) for the tape - most CCTV is overwritten every 24 hrs unless they keep the tapes in a rota.

what a horrible thing - glad you are both OK

OMG you should have got number plate and sued the f****r for your knee, you poor thing.
Horses, they surprise us sometimes, glad at least your horse remained unscathed, hope your knees okay

Oh actually the cctv might have been outside of the shop. Good thinking. I was just so so shocked at what happened, din't actually tmig he'd hit my leg I knew he'd got me but didn't think to act upon it if you know what I mean. I'll go ask them tomorrow thanks xx

What a t*sser!

oh you poor thing what a nightmare,so glad you and your horse are ok!
What a shame you did not get his number that was so out of order ,just lucky that you and your horse were not badly injured, its so s*it how many drivers are with horses, with there attitude we should not be on the road, have they all forgotton horses were here centuries before air polluting cars.
Hope your knee is ok and josie was a super star for you.
Regards Mandy.

So am I she really is as fab as I always thought. I gave her so many cuddles when we got back to the yard I think she thought her circulation had been cut off!!! lol

also ask the shop - they might well have their own CCTV even if there is a police one outside the shop as well.

the roundabout at Hammersmith has about 8 Police CCTVs - and about another 40 belonging to TfL and the businesses there !!

also - go to A&E and get your leg checked out - or your GP tomorrow and take photographs of any bruise you find

check your poor horse over in daylight

if you can get something off the CCTV then go thru your insurance company and file a personal injury claim against the driver

if you are a BHS member they might give you advice as well - or your horse insurance company

don't let the b'tard get away with this

and also - whilst she might have been a star today - just be careful tomorrow or the next time you ride her that she hasn't been affected and if she has then add that onto the claim

(normally I'm against all this litigation culture but in this case the sh1tbag deserves to be prosecuted)

Thankyou for all that. OH said I should go to the docs with my knee, it just has a lovely bruise, it's gonna make some fab photos when it comes out properly!!

I will def ask the shop about cctv, hadn't even thought of that!

I dont want him to get away with it, esp after the abuse I got, although I think he was shoked at how much he got back!!! He never even thought to appologise!

I'll call insurance too for advice, thanks xxx

Hope it didn't get you whacking the car with your whip (

) or have sound recording!!!!!

What a d!ckhead and jolly good for you. I have lost count of the idiots who try to drive through my stirrup iron, pass us on blind bends and cut us up in front of oncoming traffic.

I'd like a zapper to blat them with - one that records number plates and sends them instantly to the local traffic division. Anyone feel an invention coming on?

Has anyone ever tried getting a plain clothes mounted policeman to accompany them on a hack and nab some offending motorists..............

Theres a deffinate gap in the market for a zapper!! OH said I shoujld have had a james bond type gaget on my stirrup iron that shot out spikes to shove through his window! But hey he would!!!

Glad to hear you are ok if rather shaken. Sounds like the **** driving the pick up did this on purpose. To stop suddenly and reverse is not normal behaviour. Agree it might be worth asking about CCTV footage. A visit from the police regarding his dangerous driving may shake him up.

I think he reversed to turn round if that makes sense? He shot past our road then reversed back into it then drove off the other way??

God I do hope he didn't do it on purpose, would be even worse!

Me and Cybele were hit out hacking in the summer, in broad daylight.
An 'older' lady in a little citroen was coming towards us, quite fast, and fiddling with her radio or something. It was awful, there was nowhere to go as it was a single track lane with high banks, topped with a hedge, and not enough time to spin around and leg it.
I managed to get her in as close as I could, and bless her, she breathed in too. My ankle hit the wing mirror and bent it inwards, I also had a good go at kicking the window in.
B***h didn't stop, and actually sped off.
I was about 10miles from home, and a nervous wreck. Cybele didn't seem at all phased, if it wasn't for being so calm her I might well have called and asked for someone to come pick us up.
I now hate hacking on the roads, I wear reflective stuff all year round and have joined the bhs purely for the support they give to riders in road accidents.

You must report it to the police. This is a) a Road Traffic Accident b) Failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an acident= the list could be endless. Shame he can't be sentenced to having his b...s removed. that would make him think twice. Best of luck and hope you are both okay with no after effects.

I want a zapper for my bike - so all those ars*holes that cut me up would be well and truely spiked.

Glad you both are not too bad, having had a car resting on Breeze's hocks once - silly bitch came flat out round a blind bend in the wet, just missed the kids crossing and hit my horse.

The lollypop lady was great - put a big scratch on her bonnet where she hit it with her lolly - not only did she nearly kill several small tots, but my horse and this was a 30 mile limit on a school crossing.

Got back to the yard and threw up - delayed shock.

I'm so glad Josie remained calm and isnt injured.

Sorry, but what a wa****. That's driving without due care and attention if not dangerous driving. If you can get hold of CCTV footage and show the police I am sure he would either have hefty points on his licence, and if they proved he did this on purpose maybe even prison. It's very serious.
Don't worry about the point of you whipping his car, he backed into you and so completely his fault.
What if it'd been a child in a buggy? Or someone with a spooky horse??
OMG it makes me sooo mad

.

We were out hacking just before xmas and some lad in a boy racer car came up behind us. I asked him to wait whilst my friend and I trotted to a passing place and the t*** put his foot down, causing the horse I was riding to spook (just missed his side) and my friend's horse to rear.
Luckily another driver got his number plate and we reported it, but I don't know if he was ever caught.

You really need to ring the shop asap and ask them to keep the video. Or better still ring the police and tell them what happened. Tell them you have been in shock all day and have only just had the presence of mind to report it. Mention the shop and ask if they can go and view the video asap.

Hope you are ok

Thankyou everyone. i woujldn'y have even thought about the shop til youa ll said. I will go there early before I go to the ayrd tomorrow. You're all right he does need reporting, I shall keep you updated xx

Wow, what a star is Josie? Poor you and poor Josie. Such a shame the pair of you had to go through what you did, but you must be so proud of her.

Glad you are both ok!

Sorry to hear about your accident.

I would suggest that you immediately report the incident to the police giving them a description of the vehicle and the person. Ask them for a crime incident number and keep it in a safe place. Even if you don't have the registration number a description of the vehicle and person may well result in him being caught when he committs an un-related offence. You would be suprised how often this happens.

Please also complete a BHS accident form on the BHS web site:
http://www.bhs.org.uk/content/accident-report-form.asp

Let us know how you get on.

what a total arse, there are some [****] people out there arent there. i remb having similar thing with a scaffold lorry and the poles bouncing around v nosily on the back,, my sister got out the way in a drive as he was coming so fast i was on her nappy gelding bless him he was a star and didnt even flinch, i did!!!. lol and hope you are feeling better hun.x

OMG!! What a complete and utter waste of a human being he is!! U MUST see if you can find otu who he is!

Where my parents live it is all country roads, not tiny but not big either, and you get some right P^%&Ks, so I took to taking a pocket full of chuckies from the drive before I headed out and if I got abuse they got a chuckie of their car (I DO NOT RECCOMMEND THIS BY THE WAY!) I only ever smashed one car window, but it was a side window and they couldnt prove it was me, as if it had been it would have been my stirrup and that would mean admitting that they were too close
laugh.gif

The funniest(yet saddest) thing was that the ONE person who always drove the closest at the stupidest speed was the lady up the road who was a member of the committee for the PONY CLUB!! And she used to do it WITH her trailer on her 4x4, she didnt even care (probably as my horse wasnt as *special* as her precious daughters!)

I also find it amusing how many times I have been told that I am not allowed to ride on the roads!! And I know 2 young riders who actually thought this to!
I always wanted a tabard that read "yes, I CAN legally ride the roads!" on the back , and on the front "now F&^K off and learn to drive" - written backwards so it is visable in their mirrors.
