Sorry for loads of videos lately but my mum and dad have been able to get up to the yard as their off work so I've had a cameraman :D

Nothing to exciting, we kept it very little as he's still learning that you don't jump at 100mph :rolleyes:

To say I am pleased with him is an understatement! I wish I had a video of him before, he would just turn the corner to the jump and charge with his ears in my face. Then he would land and do a lap of the school bucking and farting! The difference is amazing.
I know we both still need loads of work and we don't look very pretty but now I have control I can work on technique.

Thank you everyone for your advice to stop him rushing, I tried everything and it it really has seemed to worked. I think the little holiday did him some good aswell :)
 
Looks lovely! Lovely and soft, rhythmical, quiet :) You ride him really well.

Makes me feel a bit rubbish, jumping from trot on my TB is no where near as calm and controlled as that :o

Mollya- Its taken a lot to get him that calm, I've tried so many exercises with him but I'm just suprised its working as fast as it has. The people on here have helped immensly :)

They seem pretty similar,just imagine the head a bit higher and bucking, that was Andy :rolleyes:
Apart from schooling like crazy and getting him listening and adjustable I think the best one for him was canter poles before and after the fence as it got his head down and thinking about what he was doing.
Also leaving quite a few fences up in the school and just trot and canter around them until he relaxes and once he was relaxed I would sneakily pop one, then I'd carry on schooling around them, my RI calls it the suprise tactic.
 
That's great, thanks :) How many canter poles do you put out? Just one before and one after? The school at the yard isn't as lovely as yours so I will have to beg and borrow a nice one off someone :p One I've found quite good for getting them listening after the fence is pulling them up as soon as they land so they instantly come back to you :)

I have 3 before and 3 after. Our arena is quite short so not a lot of turning space at the end so you have to hang on and hope they don't jump the fence at the end. I tired the pulling up after the fence but as he doesn't like his mouth being touched it was a tough one for him.

Just thought of another; stand them about 2 or 3 strides from the fence (only a little one) and once they relax kick on and jump it. I guess you could also stop them after aswell. You gotta love these horses that think jumping at speed is fun :rolleyes: :p
 
Red's like that too- the MH helps though but he's going to have to get over himself at some point, or that's what I keep telling him anyway :p
I'm writing all these down so I can get him ready for pony club this year! It's certainly interesting to say the least :p
