well last saturday i went to my friends yard to jump as ussual, and well.....

marley was a complete pig haha! it was his first night living out on our new grass on the friday before so im assuming he was full of himself as he was charging around the arena like a maniac, then he was jumping from a long stride short stride up and over going nowhere strides he would canter really fast to the jump then stop and jump i was jumping with out reins most of the day so got off any let someone plod about on him for a while while i gathered my breath of trying to stay on!

then i got back on for another 20mins and he then jumped much better still nowhere near his usual standard so please refrain from making any CC as these are just awful but extreamly funny as he was clearly being a brat and wanted to just run and jump what he wanted to!

PS theres nothing wrong with him as yeserday he schooled and jumped like a dream!

heres the pics

one of the better jumps

chicken wings from me he wasnt listening to me at all

im screaming in this one haha

not sure whats happening here but look very funny!

enjoy!

Please don't ride in those boots, it's my absolute pet hate and I can't understand just how you can have any leg support/ control in them as they flap around uselessly. It gives you the same precision as texting with gloves on.

He looks like he's trying very hard for you, but you're pivoting on your knees and leaning on your hands a bit, making his life quite hard. The chicken wings photo looks the best from that point of view, as you're not using your hands for balance at all, although the first photo is probably the best overall?

He looks in good condition though atm. Is he quite heavy in your hand when you ride?

I like riding in the boots. And shouldnt need to have a secure boot to jump. Not saying im secure in any of these pics becUse im not.

Yes im leaning yes im pivoting and legs all over place et etc this is all becUse he was beeing a brat and jumping from long strides run ing out and going on short strides etc so this is why i dnt have the position i ussually have.

I did say i didnt want any cc on these pics they were mearly put on here to laugh at me. I know my faults especially on these pics haha

Hes in fab condition thanks for noticing. But he isnot heavy i my hand he was that day as said befre was being a tool
But ussually hes fab and light when jumping.

Thanks for the input though. I am jumping again soo so will post actualy cc picz when i have done it. X

Oh well in that case "platitude, platitude, platitude, pat on the back, lovely horse, platitude, platitude"

I can't agree enough with this.

I have tried once to ride in them to see why people did it and they offered no support, were far too heavy, and I tended to raise my heel to give an aid rather than a slight touch. Horrid! I think they're quite unsafe to ride in. People should remember that the likes of Dubarry's etc were actually designed for sailors!

He seems very sweet. But I agree you perhaps need to work on your independent jumping seat. You'd probably find with proper boots on, your lower leg would automatically have more support, and your position would be much more secure.

I just seen this... maybe he was perhaps being a bit naughty but I would have spent the rest of my time working on getting him in a nice rhythm and a nice canter so he popped the fences rather than continually allowing him to go on long / short strides.

and of course you need a secure boot!

Im nt ruining my gd boots and im fine in what i hVe.

Also these pics r meant for humour at my hideous riding.

And these pics were taken befre i got off and ooled my self off and then got ba k on. No pics after i got back on.

I cnt believe everyones picking apart the damn boots can people nt have fun with their horses anymore. I feel fine in these boots and my instructor on my lessons says i have nice seat and legs for the amount of time i hVe bee riding so i am happy with my progress.

Tbis post was meant to laugh!! As my chicken wing and screamy pics r rather fun y i thought

I got confused as you post every few days asking for CC on your riding- I assumed this was of that ilk.

Regarding your boots, personally I don't think they're safe or appropriate for anything other than slopping about in. That's my opinion, and you are free to ignore it. I have to admit, I would be asking my instructor how often she felt you should be jumping compared to schooling and hacking though.

:D Can I get in on this action? Platypus, platypus, platypus...

(well ok, but platypuses are cooler than platitudes!)

Hate to say it, but I agree with the boot comments - they really do you no favours. To be honest, if he was being a pillock, I would have dropped the fences and worked on getting nice, rhythmical, well mannered work over raised poles / small fences, rather than encouraging him to behave like a wally. Particularly as you said you'd jumped the previous day - you do seem to jump him an awful lot...

They are like country boots, durberrys, dublin river boot type things. Tbf I have a pair of the ariat ones and ride wearing them all the time but they aren't very supportive in terms of 'proper riding', fine for sloppy hacks. I've jumped in mine though in the past *naughty* :o.

Big deal regarding the boots. If I hadn't seen the pics I would have thought she was riding in flip flops by the tone of these posts....some folk need to get a life.....

My main concern about riding in them would be how easily they would release from the stirrups when required TBH.

Gosh, aren't today's youth nice and polite? "I disagree with you, so instead of presenting a valid counter-argument, I shall be snarky and tell you to get a life- I SO win THAT argument"

When I was a teenager it was 'fashion' on my yard to ride in trainers and chaps lol, luckily I wasn't on HHO back then!

Luckily you didn't fall off and your foot didn't slip through the stirrup because trainers don't have heels and luckily you didn't get dragged.
There are REASONS people comment on the gear people ride in.

PapaFrita - the OP innocently posted some pics on here to show us all her horse and for us to have a laugh. Yes, riding in those boots may be wrong and no she is not a 4* eventer, but I don't think you have to try to take a dig.

It's bloomin' nice and refreshing to see someone posting despite their faults and to admit to them.

In my world, the leg gives the aid. So you want as little as possible between you and the horse- hence close contact saddles and things coming up. And you keep your heel down to keep your calf muscles taut so they are as precise as possible. And so on. So if you school wearing baggy boots, you lose 95% of that precision, which isn't great for the horse who is trying to follow your instructions.

Safety is pretty secondary to that- I'm a big fan of "On your head be it"... This is more for the horse's benefit :)

so google tells me this. hay que estar al pedo

then tells me that means something else entirely if I translate it the other way! ;)

I thought Lolo, who is unquestionably very experienced and sensible, made a perfectly valid point in a polite manner. I think the OP could have and SHOULD HAVE extended her the same courtesy. It's what grown-ups do. If she wants to be treated as a mature, sensible person, then she should behave like one. The same goes for the 'get a life' comments which are symptomatic of people who think they know it all and won't be told which is catastrophic when working with horses.

I Must say i rode in my 'country' boots the other week, purely because i'd forgotten my riding boots. I did find them heavy and a bit irritating, but certainly not worth the stick she's getting.

I do always get the feeling people choose to tell the seemingly more 'vulnerable' (please do not take that the wrong way OP) posters 'in their best interests' everything they shouldn't be doing.

He looks very well OP, i have some awful photos of me riding, and they're considerably worse than the ones you've posted (which don't seem all that bad!). I'm glad to see he's not be socked in the mouth despite his keenn-ness. Do you do much other than school/jump him?

I think people would just prefer people not to have accidents made more serious because they did not realise the dangers, that's all. :)
