Jumping position: difficult on one specific horse?

I have this issue with my older horse. He has one tremendous dirty stop, DG was calling him norty words at a lesson as the front feet came off the floor and he could still spin and drop me on the fence :o

My position on him was horrendous to look at :o its not perfect by anymeans but on E and on S its better.

I have to say I sit up quickly but my feet aren't braced against the stirrups, it was just how I was taught to jump years and years ago. Sit up, get off the horses front end and allow to land so your ready to ride away :) Also means if I get left behind I'm not landing on horses neck in a heap or socking pony in the chops :)

Mine has gone to pieces on YP :( I think its a combination of having a really bad session last time so not trusting him to actually jump and being out of practice as we havnt done much jumping recently.

Feeling a bit rubbish having looked at the photos from today, his stopping has never really got to me before, it was just him but it seems to have made my position really bad now. Must try harder next time as he actually jumped well I just let him down.

Yea but you've not jumped in forever and he was a total knob last time you were out. Don't beat yourself up, one bad day is nothing in the scheme of things. At least he was a good lad as a change from last time!
