Just been told I should get rid of my horse

A nosey old bat from down the road has told me I should get rid of Dan before I break my ankle again (first time I've broken an ankle from 14 years riding) even though she knows nothing about horses.

Seriously p:ssed off - it was just bad luck that I broke my ankle and my horses are what I live for - I can't wait to ride again and am seriously considering riding to her house and leaving some nice fresh hoss muck outside as a gift!

Rant over, just mad at being told to get rid of a hoss just because I fell off it. Grrrrrrrrrr!!!
 
lol oh for goodness sake!

So if I crash my car I should never drive again, if I trip on the pavement and break my leg I can never leave my house again, if I fall off my bike do I never cycle again..... I could go on!

She needs to get out more

I totally understand where you are coming from. We have nosey neighbors too. (they like to ring me at 7:30 am to ask me what my horses are doing. It'll be a blessing if anyone ever tries to steal my horse though!)

Try not to let her get you down. as you said she doesn't know about horses.
 
i fell off my moped on tues and am currently lying in bed unable to walk because of busted knees. OH wants to sell it but i've had more serious injury falling down stairs. ignore the silly old bat

Nearly all my horses are remedials when they arrive here, and i'm constantly told by people to get rid before they do me a serious injury.
They'll be unbearable now that i have actually hurt myself!

At the end of the day any creature wth its own mind is potentially dangerous to be around, even the dopiest looking eldery cob.
You know your horse, and as long as you feel safe around it thats all that matters.

I wouldn't mind, her house isn't near the field but down the road - most of the neighbours who overlook the field are really supportive and love my neddies to bits

So an older person who knows nothing about horses has expressed some concern for your future safety & that has p1&&ed you offf?
You're right. Far better that we all ignore each other.
I would just have thanked her for her concern, & explained that these things happen with horses every now & then, & just because on this occassion you fell off your horse doesn't mean he's unsuitable or dangerous.
 
She wasn't expressing concern for my safety, she was b:tching

It's her favourite hobby, and why she is often disliked.

Had she showed concern for my safety, as many people have, I'd have thanked her but explained that I am accident prone and not to worry for me but the neddie!

I fell off the muck cart and dislocated my elbow

So I don't think I should have to much out again... although find another mug to do it is unlikely!!

Living is dangerous, but most people die falling down their own stairs.....
