Unbroken? Pah! I don't believe it.
Methinks someone (or even a few people) have tried to back him and failed, or that he has had a lot of time off due to lameness.
Call me cynical but he is clipped - who would hunter clip an untried unspoilt horse?
Looks a nice horse - I didn't investigate too closely though because I am always put off by bad spelling and grammar - sad I know, but as I am dyslexic myself, I would still make sure my advert was as good as I could get it
looks seriously dodgy! spelling is bad (no reflection on horse) but horse has developed to the shape of a ridden horse not a 6 year old which hasnt worked! i would think he is either a tried to break and failed! or its lame or has a back problem or a serial bucker or rearer!
definately dodgy, wouldn't go there! my first thoughts were why is it clipped? Advert is very badly written and none of the pictures really show the horses conformation well, and from what i can see, it doesnt look good!
Prob clipped if it looks a mess hairy - on here people comment on that just as much! As for spelling and grammer they are selling a horse not taking an english exam! May just be a genuine bargain!!
Given that it's down as 'Trade' then there's obviously something not so straightforward.
I would suggest the dealer is hoping to move him on quick - they MUST have tried breaking him....why wouldn't they?!! If he was broken & riding then he would be worth approx 3 x that amount.
Obviously, as others have said theres a drawback either he won't pass the vet or he won't break... or both!
another one for the bargepole comment. A friend bought an apparently unbroken youngster - and when it went to be backed it had obviously been started - and failed badly. She lost a LOT of money on this horse. I agree that is is probably unrideable or has something seriously wrong - you are being asked to buy it on a leadrope? walk away!
Why would a horse that "has the best showjumping pedagree in the country" be still unbroken and 6 going for £1200? If it did have such a fabulous pedigree it would still be worth more than that even if it wasn't broken by that age and they wanted it to go this week! I'd agree that it was probably broken and a lot of trouble so they're getting rid.
Just re-read the advert - call me cynical...but 'sold on the lead rope you are more than welcome o see him loose school and see him in traffic.' I would suggest someone lean over his back & tack up and see what the reaction is.....!
'This is a genuine horse that has never been tryed.
We dont have a jockey at the moment to brake so this is the reason for the silly price it is no reflection on him he is a super horse that will be worth a small fortune oneday!!!!' So even if the dealer has no jockey (hmm!), why not send him away to break, he would be worth so much more!
Very suspicious - apologies if this is genuine!
The seller is trade and also has a few more horses for sale. All of the other horses are ridden and jumping so I dont believe for one minute that they dont have a jockey for the horse. It will be a typical Dutch import which has been broken and riding out and then something has gone wrong as so often is the way with these imports and horse objects to being ridden now. Bargepole horse!
QR I have often seen too good to be true horses for sale with the same seller. I must say I have always been scepitical (sp!) and thought bargepole, although I maybe wrong!
I imagine the 'sweaty' girth mark in the 1st photo is from a lunge roller. It looks too high up his sides to be a girth from the saddle - so assume it's from a lunge roller. So guess he could be muscled from lunge work.
I know of a branded, papered German Warmblood who looked nice & would lunge all day - but you can't ride. Sadly the owner bought in a similar situation to this & bought the story of 'never been started'. Sadly this wasn't true & 'couldn't / can't be started' would be a more accurate statement. Sadly, now a very expensive lawnmover
Its under imperial, they are the same people that advertise as r wells. The horse certainly jumps though. They have a 14.2hh coloured pony for sale that ha sjumped internationally that seems far too cheap to me, Ive know JAs well into their teens that have gone for 5 figure+ sums of money.
