Anyone else just had their numbers creep up on them? I’m going to have to do some serious thinking about who will go, I need to get back down to the 7 I thought I had ?

What colours are they? Similar colours will help! Mine are mainly dun connemara youngsters (my lorry fund!) which seems to have done a good job of bamboozling us both.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed now though!! One is going out on loan this summer, the old lead rein pony. And I’ll have to sell at least two others. And not buy more with the proceeds….

I nearly reached 10 once. Maths isn't my strongest subject and my husband always has to ask how many we have?. I have cut down by half in recent years. Friend reckons my forest mare is in foal, I'm not convinced but that'll be one more if she is. ?

Mixed colours. Last time I was at 10, he didn't notice for 3 years.
This one is small black one, he's seen me riding her for a neighbour. I think he'll get suspicious when the spare stable gets done up ?.

Err I have 1 riding moody mare, who had a surprise foal and ,
'Down' to 16 field ornaments, waifs and strays I now have a sensible OH so not allowed to replace when they go. !
(Excluding the 3 donkeys and mule).
No i don't own my own land....just a good bank manager.

The average age of them is 20 years, and i'm too sentimental, as they have all settled into their little groups, to split them up, (sucker!). I am lucky to have 3 different, very understanding landowners!
However i still get asked occasionally so i'll speed dial you.

2 is my max, I’d love to have just one but I like the lack of drama that comes with having my own field and doing my own thing but I won’t keep one on their own so 2 it is

I got up to seven...! Then the vets kindly started charging £20 for what had previously been a free zone visit day, & it made me reassess. I have now sold three and am down to 3 at home, or rather 2 1/2 as I have two biggies and a Dartmoor, plus Trev the ex racer on loan where he will hopefully stay. I have been gleefully cancelling insurance policies as I've sold and I am not going to say that I might actually end up with spare money instead of the monthly white knuckle ride to payday as one of the 2 1/2 will hear me and do something expensive involving the vet and a lot more than £20... Just a PSSM ISH to find a companion home/walk only home, and then I will have TWO at home! OMG, what will I do with all the time that I won't be poo picking/doing feet/looking at my hay supply and wondering where the hell it's all gone...

I was actually ok with the numbers until I rehomed a huge mare a couple of years ago and her daily droppings are equal to the others put together. I have 5 (technically 4 1/2 as one is a mini shetland) and they are all bar the shetland mid twenties or over. Someone commented today it was like a nursing home for horses ?

Someone else pointed out that all I seem to do is spend money putting food in one end and then spend hours cleaning it up when it comes out the other end. I think that pretty much sums it up in the winter!

Wow, I can't imagine that many. I went up to 3 from 2 in the Summer and it's tough.
2 is a nice number.
The third will be going back and then I'll be on the hunt as I've one field ornament, one who's getting on and I'm not sure when she's going to be retiring/slowing down and so I'm thinking of a youngster as it will be difficult to afford anything more with prices as they are plus my plan had been to have a foal on the ground this year and that would give 4-5 years of bringing that on so I'm thinking of a foal - 3 yrs ish but not looking forward to 3 permanently.
