Euromillions tonight is £112Million (ticket bought just in case) just day dreaming wondering if you won that much how much of it would be spent on horses and Matchy Matchy
 
I had 'that' email last Saturday morning 'we have news about your ticket' ..... we sat in bed for a while talking about how we would spend it and who and who we would tell and all the nitty details ... £2.80! However you have just reminded me to play tonight and Fridays, thanks :)

I have always wanted to build my own home and with that indoor barn stables (the posh ones you see on FB) with an indoor school ... and everything else including a full time groom, lol!
 
I'd get a new car, a modest 3.5 tonne lorry, a riding specific personal trainer and lessons from pros and get bloody good at it! I'd also possibly look at a second horse, a lovely ready-made schoolmaster to teach me lots of things. I don't think I could keep mine at home, I am not experienced enough and value having knowledgeable and lovely people around me! Think i'd put money in for resurfacing the school here/expanding the XC facilities but it wouldn't be that much of an issue if I was boxing out and about.

The rest would buy me a comfy (but suitably 'eccentric millionaire') house and maybe a masters degree!

In terms of horsey stuff i'd like to breed the rare breeds; not for profit but to support the Clydesdale, Shires and Suffolks. Along side those i'd like to make some heavy hunter/sporty types, ID x Shire for example.

I'd soon spend that £112 million if i had it :confused:
 
Below are the selfish choices.
I would have to spend a great deal of time working out which causes to support.

Very little if any on matchy matchy stuff. Maybe a white numnah for my walk and trot tests and some black ones for other times and maybe a new bridle
I would like to have a magic wand that would make my family closer without the heartbreak of any of us leaving our homes and all our friends.
Failing that I would spend some on horse / house sitters so I could visit more often.
Possibly the purchase of some land close by to build an indoor school and all weather school and exercise track .

Oh two things for my OH. A particular new car as he really is not happy with his present one and the rest so he can retire in stead of working part time when he is already over 65.
 
I think about what I would do if I won the lottery fairly often when I am bored; funnily enough though it's mainly who I would give to and how much. I think first and foremost, I would transfer £20million to my mum and not tell her; perhaps ask if she could check that she received some money that I owed her. Would love to see her face.

I would then buy a couple of big HOYS looking Show Hunters, something dressagey and maybe an Iberian (plus a few natives of course!). I would buy a comfortably sized house located right next door to the big yard I would also buy. Think, close enough to be extremely convenient, but not actually located on the same site as my home. I would then have some liveries and staff as I think I would prefer this to having mine at home alone. Alongside a 3.5t lorry that I can drive, and a 7.5t so I can take more than one out at a time, I would be happy as larry.

I would also possibly buy a couple of hundred acres somewhere to keep the Facebook horses you see people trying to get rid of, give them a few good years living out and do the right thing + rescues + anything else I thought could do with a nice retirement.
 
My first thought is I would buy a second horse and day to day help with things like poo picking, I struggle with time as I have a two year old at home and everything takes a million times as long to do with him in tow.

Not sure if I’d would move yards. Ours is pretty basic but lovely. Maybe if YO allowed i’d use some cash to install things like electric, floodlights and more hard standing that would make things easier for all. Realistically whilst the idea of looking out of the bedroom window and being able to see your horse is lovely I think i would be lonely if I had them at home, and I appreciate the support of our others on the yard and our instructor who’s Mum is YO and always on hand if you need any help.

Second horse would be a dressage school master to a decent level to help my son progress as he and our cob have done well at the lower levels but it is a bit ‘blind leading the blind’! Would need to be a really lovely person and take up the leg- son is already 6’3 and still growing.

I would definitely buy our instructor a brand new top of the range 7.5t. She has supported us hugely and I would like her to know how appreciated she is.
 
Think I would buy a farm and turn it into a decent equestrian centre with everything indoor / outdoor livery yard x country course for me and my friends (with staff to help me and keep me company) as long as it could pay for itself in terms of running costs I'd be happy.

the house would also have to have a gym to keep OH amused as he'd never see me
 
I'd buy a couple of young eventers and show jumpers, put them in the best hands I could and see how they got on. Olympic dreams of the future.....(as an owner, I'm far to old and wonky to ride even medium lol).

I'd try and help some younger riders out too, ones with true talent.

I'd still keep my motley crew but move to a house where yard was attached, plus get a groom/gardener/handyman.

I'd sprinkle some around to friends to ease their lives too.
 
I would love to buy a big posh yard with an indoor and outdoor arena, solarium, huge stable etc and sponsor a couple of young talented riders. I'd keep Rose, obviously, and still enjoy my own riding and competing but I'd love to help someone with real talent progress with the right horse and proper support. It is such a difficult sport (dressage) to get on in without a leg up and I would love going to competitions as an owner. I would also buy lots of matchy matchy and have the most beautiful tack.
 
I'd buy the land up for sale locally, about 800 hectares, build a house, get some conservation grazing Exmoors in, buy some nice Fell ponies and start breeding. Make some all weather surface tracks around said land and build a field archery course and permanent Polish track and open up another area for dog sports-tracking, bikejor etc.
 
This made me remember back in the late 80s at my first job, we used to do the pools, well I paid the money, not sure if I ever had any chance 😁
We would sit, eating our packed lunches, wondering what we would do if our numbers came up 😄

Today on Euro millions I would buy a large estate somewhere rural for my ever increasing herd to live on. And a lovely yard / school / gallop track would be handy too 😂😂
 
I would get a financial adviser right off the bat, one of those who specialises in lottery wins! I'd save whatever needs saving for the interest, following that. I'd give a set amount to mine and my partner's closest family members - if they wish to help anyone else further down the line, they can then do so with their share ;) But you always hear how money tears families apart, so I'd be really strict on 'this is what you get' (there are some family members who I'm sure would p*ss it all away - but they get no more if they do!)

Then spendies :D A good, new-ish towing vehicle and a fancy trailer. A lovely home in the countryside, with a pool and some gym equipment (and a cleaner!). Some outhouses to turn into workshops and studios. I'd like an equestrian facility (within walking distance) but with somebody else to run it for me, I'm not good with people. And a second horse - maybe a big, safe, grey hunter. Or something Spanish. Or a Clydie. Ok, maybe just the one second horse is limiting myself a bit ;)

A Clydie, Shire, Arab, Fresian and a nice well schooled dapple grey for for low level eventing.

And someone to look after them all.

And probably a gold encrusted stable for my darling Highland boy.
 
I used to be in a syndicate at work, and one time we got FIVE NUMBERS!! Unfortunately, there were so many of us in the syndicate that we ended up with about £50 each. However, because we worked for a newspaper, we were able to persuade the lottery people to give us the full winners' experience with champagne and a giant cheque!

If I won £112m, I'd buy a yard with plenty of land, hire very knowledgable staff, and set about acquiring problem horses. The unsalvageable would get a lovely summer living out, then PTS. The fixable would be fixed, schooled, and sold on, with an emphasis that me and my staff were always available for support.

And, for my own fun, the yard would have a big outdoor with jumps up, an indoor, and a long farm ride with xc jumps and a gallop track.

I might look at getting a nice schoolmaster, but I'd more likely invest in lots of lessons for me and schooling for my current horse. Oh, and a couple of patient semi-retired ponies for when my nieces visit.
 
I jut bought 2 tickets after reading this!!

I'd pay off the mortgages of some of my family and friends to reduce my guilt about my soon-to-be-lavish lifestyle!
I'd buy myself another event horse to ride and maybe a hunter too
I'd buy a nice house in the countryside with loads of space for my dog to run about, now that I could afford a gardener (!) but I might continue to keep the horses at livery so that I could go on holiday a lot, though it would be nice to have some land so they could come home on holidays
I'd buy a 4* eventer so I could follow to the big shows and enjoy being an owner

Can you tell I give this quite a lot of thought??!!
 
sleep............then pop to Heathrow pick up a flight somewhere and sit there reading a book thinking OMG......................

the sleep bit is because i had 8 weekends off work last year, the year before 5 weekends off.................

but this is the selfish bit..................i wouldn't tell anyone, not that i'm really selfish but all the "friends" that would arrive ahhhhhhh
 
I play fantasy lottery shopping all the time!

I'd give my current house, car, trailer etc to a friend. Then I'd buy myself a huge yard with hundreds of acres and I'd set up a big driving centre and run a driving trial twice a year. I'd have liveries, but I'd have staff to look after them, so it would just be for company when I felt like it.

I'd set up a huge track system, and build and indoor school, all weather gallop, cones field etc XC course/driving obstacle course.

I'd want a second house so my friend and her lovely spanish horse could come and live near me but not with me.

I'd have a mini race track for the whippets, and I'd have other people over sometimes to play whippet racing with. that would be quite enough socialising for me!

I would buy LOTS of horses. Some of those scruffy bin end cobs can make nice ride and drives with a bit of time and money and I'd have both, so it would be nice to do something useful. I've done it on a very tiny scale before. It would be a lot more fun with pots of money! I'd have a little herd of exmoors and a couple of really pretty arabs, and probably some little stick leg show ponies.

Id have my osteo and sports massage person on tap 24/7! And I'd get the best specialists in the world to see if anything can be done for my back and eyes. I suspect the answer is yes if I chuck enough money at it.

Basically I'd set the yard up to cover its own costs and then set about spending the remainder of my millions on anything I fancied.
 
I don't think I would tell anyone exactly how much I won! There are too many vultures flying around so I would probably just buy myself somewhere completely random, move all my horses there and then pay someone to look after them for a month or so whilst I went mental in Vegas!
 
I could probably get a big chunk of Venezuela for that, and still have enough left over to buy a yard here in town, and have a heavy hunter type on full livery in it.

And STILL have enough left over to buy the house next door to my mum's, and have the two houses run together as a ground floor flat for her, and an upstairs flat for when we go over to visit.
 
Ohhh I really try not to have that daydream. So sad when you bump back into real life!

The usual.. help out friends and family, then a house with land and a big school... would move the horses to my trainer's while we were sorting that acquisition out 😂 then I'd be pretty happy with the life I have, if I could do less of the boring day job and worry less about money. OH would need some more tractors, I'm sure 😆
 
This is my favourite daydream!

I would buy a nice property with plenty of land, stables and outbuildings, field shelters and outdoor school and with good hacking nearby. House would need an indoor pool, spa area and climbing wall. Ooh and a yoga studio. Somewhere in the Peak District probably, though possibly further north.

Then I'd buy a lorry to transport me and the neds around. My current two retirees would be joined by another younger Arab that I could do all sorts with - and finally turn my ODE dreams into reality! I'd box over to Nottingham every few weeks for a lesson with my old boss too.

I would take a sabbatical too (maybe before buying the new horse etc) and spend six months or so travelling round Chile and Argentina, and doing my dive master in Honduras.

Then maybe try to write a novel or something do something indulgent that would feel like a job but wouldn't actually need to earn me any money!

And then obviously give some money to my mum and dad and a good chunk to my sister. Plus lots to charity - I reckon Marte could help lots of fluffier with £1 million!
 
I'd buy a yard for my yard manager and fellow liveries to move to. Our current yard is for sale and although we would love to stay together, we know it might not happen. It makes me sad when I read posts about bitchy yards and weird managers. Ours is perfect. We all get on so well and I'm not looking forward to moving ☹
(Oh and then I'd give up work, buy a new car, get a dog, have all my fat sucked out and go on holiday!)

Have the horses at home and hire a groom- best of both worlds!
 
i would buy a small estate with a few cottages and equestrian facilities and plenty of land so i dont have to do road work ....give an equal large amount to each of my brothers and sister so no arguments , also give equal amounts to my 3 very close friends and then help out as many of my other friends as i could, while leaving enough money invested so i have an income and something to fall back on. then buy a couple of riding horses and rehome some from WHW as companions. would also have friends horses on livery and not charge them if i still had plenty of money... would have staff for the heavy jobs and the maintenance and also someone to clean my house thoroughly every week...would also get a big dog who is soft but looks fierce ,rottie or,german shepherd, and also a deerhound as they are my favourite breed,,i have obviously never given this thought at all :D
 
Well....... I've got the "homestead in the country", BUT no money to spend on the dang place, so that would be the first priority, to get my place up to a standard where the rest of humanity would feel they're not entering a barn in the stone age :) - my place is Grade 2 listed and so that would take up a bit of the cash.

Then - mmm, well, there'd be a nice little horsebox with living accommodation (and of course a travelling "head lad/girl" to drive it for me and "do" the horses if we went anywhere).

There's a lovely person I know who's out of work at the moment through no fault of her own, and I'd love to employ her as my Yard Manager so I could chill out a bit. Then maybe take on another horse (or two!!).

I'd also employ someone to do all the paperwork (and begging letters) that you'd no doubt get; and sort the accounts etc., as well as someone to cook and clean and do all the jobs I never seem to get round to.

Then I'd like to get the place up to 'spec so that it could be a therapy centre; to get horses & people with special needs and related issues together.

All dreams right now alas!
