My pony will kill for Coke - she doesn't mind cans but she has to be fed that so she prefers plastic bottles, she holds them in her teeth, tips her head back and swigs it, she would drink a whole bottle but of course we don't give her a whole one, she then drops the bottle and laughs on and off for 5 mins after she's finished. If she sees you with the bottle and you don't give it to her, she keeps whinnying and scraping her front leg, nudging you each time you walk past etc, she's become a bit obsessive with it.

My big mare absolutely adores Fruit Shortbread Biscuits, she'd eat a packet of them, or otherwise Worcestersauce Crisps, think she'd be hard to chose her fav between the two of them.

Not mine - she's a fussy cow - but a pony at my old yard just loved McDonalds chocolate milkshake!!

Edited as I can't spell.

Cornish Pasties...
she used to live wild on the moor and toddle down to where the truck drivers used to rest and they would often feed her a pasty/their leftovers apparently

my mare will eat just about anything, so i take up any edible scraps i dont eat to her such as fruit, veg, she loves polos
i am a bit scared to feed her anything maybe i shouldnt, just incase it makes her ill!

Frankie loves blue and orange WKDs (not whole bottles, I hasten to add) and all of ours loved the mince pies they had last year.

This subject comes up quite frequently and I am continually baffled with WHY someone would feed their horse food that clearly has the potential to make them ill/colic. I mean, a fizzy drink, (when a horse can't burp) which is filled with additives and caffeine....
confused.gif
WHY??? Why risk colic?
frown.gif

No doubt there will now be a string of posts from people saying that they feed their horse burgers/hot dogs and other take away food etc

I wouldn't poison my own body with that cr*p, I certainly would give it to my horses.

I'm amazed that people are feeding their horses fizzy drinks

.

The most exotic thing my horse gets is the corner of the crust off a sandwich. I gave him a bit of banana once and he spat it on the floor, so the yard dog ate it! I don't give him "people" food, just the odd carrot or a soggy apple.

My boy loves Malteasers and Pickeled Onion Monster Munch !! What ????

and my other boy nicked my cheese butty the other day!!

i swear they think they are human!

Gallons of Coke is used by vets to clear impaction colic Puppy!!!

Both my neds have a veggie mince pie on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day coz I go all gooey about the fact that all donkeys kneel down at the stroke of midnight on Christmas Eve. Not if you're watching, obviously. And Angel had 2 Tesco custard cream biscuits while we waited the 2 hrs it took for her liver flush to drip slowly into her jugular, coz she was so brave and patient about it. Somehow, Chinese Whispers turned this into me giving 2 HUGE CUSTARD SLICES to a desperately ill, ragwort poisoned, rescue ned!!!! Almost had the RSPCA at the yard the next day!!!

The old Appy loved Idris ginger beer and half coated digestives, and she was quite fond of cheese and onion crisps. The current one steals the bread from hot dogs and gin.

I see people give their horses allsorts down our farm, i even saw one lady put a couple of cherry bakewells in her horses feed

I don't like to give my horse human food though, it's not part of his natural diet.

He tries any fruit he wants though, and loves banana, he once picked one from my lunch from outside his stable, luckily i managed to get it back before he ate the whole thing, skin and all(needless to say I still gave it him minus the skin...it didn't look very appetising any more!!)

And he loves the crusts of my sandwiches, which is convenient as I hate them!

My old boy loves Kitkats - as I discovered when he stole one I was starting to unwrap and wolfed it, silver paper and all! My younger horse would do anything for Eat Natural Almond and Yoghurt bars.

I once had a pony who loved cheeseburgers...although please note I did not 'give them' to her - she used to steal them! The only way to stop her wanting them was to smother them with ketchup - she hated that
grin.gif

And my little show pony would grab a can of coke if you werent watching, grip it with her teeth and slurp it down...think sticky liquid mess all over immaculate grey face...not good

Ellie loves wholemeal bread and pear drops

My friend had chips with curry sauce (yeuck, but apparently a Northern thing) anyway she left the plastic container on the floor to then find her horse licking the sauce! Her horse also loves bananas! My kids often get satsumas from school and one day fed one to my cob, he loves them! But for the people who say they are not horse feed, Andalucians are fed oranges in spain and I was just reading an article in Chiltern and Thames magazine this morning about Arabians being fed dates, various vegetables and even dried sheep and goat meat in the desert!

So maybe horses diets can be more varied than we think, although I would certainly stop at fizzy drinks! If they make the kids hyper, and coke can make a penny shine when left in it god knows what they would do to the GGs!

when she was a baby my boobs seemed to be what interested Breeze the most! I don't give my mares any "human" food either I'm afraid, other than carrots, polos and the odd offer of a different veg. I do not feed them everyday (the stud do though - so not starving!) so I would be worried about giving them something once or twice a week that may make them ill as they were not used to it. But is would not cross my mind to feed them sugary things and fizzy drinks - even though they would probably love it
smile.gif

my horse will eat anything apart from weirdly polos which every other horse i ve ever met loves!!! and my dog a golden retriever loves fruit and veg he ll choose a carrot over a steak!!!

My boy likes Hot Chocolate (Once its cooled down of cause!) With Hob nob biscuits. He has also had Skips crisps in the past - he didn't understand them - he went to bite into it and it had already gone (melted on his tongue!) The confused look on hs face was hilarious!!
