Just watched Rudall's Round Up with Claire Lomas' fundraiser - jockeys vs eventers trying to stay on a bucking bronco for the longest time! So, was just wondering, in your opinion, riders from which equestrian discipline would have the safest/most secure seat (on a real horse rather than a mechanical one! :)

I think it probably depends on the type of horse they're used to riding rather than the discipline they are in. For example, a dressage rider that only deals in difficult/quirky/naughty horses would probably have a more secure seat than an eventer that only rides straight forward/well behaved ones.

For rodeo, long legs and good balance! So probably eventers because they spend more time in the saddle than jockeys. Although I think dressage riders out of all the dsiciplines would then be best on rodeo machines!

I thought it'd be eventers, just because of the fast paced adrenaline fuelled xc courses that they fly around! I guess anyone who hunts must also have a fairly secure seat, either that or they are just a bit nutty! ;)

I'm another for dressage riders - Look at Princesssparkle's vid of her sitting a rear. I would KILL for a seat that secure!

But most of what anyone who does any fast work is out of the saddle, which does give huge amounts of stickability because you can let the horse go mental under you and you're hovering above it all. Only really sudden changes in direction are that problematic. Which is why I reckon the eventers will win over the jockeys, but that's not taking into account the jockey's total determination of course :D
