I am sure someone up there is conspiring against me this week! I am due to show my mare and foal at the Royal Show on Friday, but everything seems to be falling apart! First my OH has said that he doesn't want to go, which means finding new transport (I have a trailer but nothing to tow it with, and lorry that is in the garage for repair) and someone capable of handling the foal in the ring.
Well, a friend stepped up to help with transport, but now her jeep has broken, so we still have a trailer and no tow vehicle! I have called the horsebox hire people, but no one has one free for this week!
Then I have to find a handler that has all the right kit - I have a volunteer, but she doesn't have the right clothes, and so it would mean kitting her out entirely. Also she has never shown in hand before, and so I am getting very nervous.
Now my mare has thrown a shoe - not a huge disaster I thought.... Until I called my farrier - turns out that he is on holiday and wont be back until Saturday. Do I risk it, travel her without a shoe, and get the farrier at the show to knock it back on, or do I call round local farriers and beg them to come and re-attach it (very small chance they will).
I am starting to wonder whether I should go at all! I have been looking forward to this show all season, but at the moment things just go from bad to worse! I wonder what is going to happen next!
