I would say that the girth being in such an odd position isn't helping!

The girth has slipped back because of the herring gut. This filly looks young, overly tall and underfed, but Friesians are being bred like this more and more as people like them to be huge and "sporty" these days; the old stamp were rarely over 15.2 and had plenty of depth.

How does that saddle even stay on, the horse is so herring gutted that there is nothing to hold that saddle forwards, I would end up sat on the poor neds hindquarters. I would imagine there is a lovely horse in there trying to get out.
If the price was right I would have a go :O)
Alot of young / lightweight horses that are herring gutted do take on a perfectly normal shape when the weight goes on and the muscles tone up.
Are you interested? I would love to see the after pics :O)

Its a shame they're going that way, saw a load of them at Appassionata back in 2003 and they were like a different breed to these sporty ones (although have seen much nicer examples of those than this one!)

I struggle to see how she can be 16.1 based on the car behind her .
Poor lass she's not going to win many prizes and what would you do with her for a job.

Blimey, I remember Fresians as being chunky things, more like large Welsh Ds. Not this strung out specimen with no engine in the back whatsoever. I suspect the ahem, breeder, is of a certain community.

Sadly DD is often full of poor quality Friesians or Friesian crosses. Many of them are advertised near where I live, often undernourished babies broken very early. :(

I'd LOVE a Friesian....
This one looks like it needs a good dose and then a year on the grass. Would be interesting to see if she'd be 'normal' looking afterwards.

I'm putting this one in the conformation file for my exam pupils though....never seen such a good example of a herring gut!

Sadly I think the "breeders" in that community round here are very partial to Friesians/F crosses. :(

I mean this is no way to be derogatory to everyone in any community/culture, just that there seems to be a lot of low quality/back yard breeding going on among some of its members, certainly round this part of the NW. :(

That's how I remember them to .
I don't think the attempt to "improve " the breed to make modern sport fresians has been an complete sucess .
However my friend had one " modern " type fresian apart from being black it did not look like that

At one stage all the photos on DD were looking weird and stretched so thought it might be that.

But...the chap on the horse isn't looking odd photo wise so maybe horse really is that shape, I had seen the photo too and thought it looked very odd.

Its gods judgment, if you steal you will be doomed to breed poor quality horses for all eternity!

Well I have seen some magnificent horses bred by they who must not be named. But perhaps the ones I knew did not steal and weren't cursed with the affliction of breeding nags that even looked grotty by Dragon Driving standards! :D

This is getting a bit silly. Of course they can be named, we're talking about the Traveller community, many of whom live very near to me, and I work right in the middle of a huge Traveller area. They favour the Dragon Driving site, and many of their horses are sold through it.

They do indeed breed some lovely horses, but also a huge number of low quality ones. But then they're not alone in that.

We can say who we're talking about, what's against t&c's is derogatory terms or comments, about them or any group in society. :)
