... and I look like a hillbilly! Took L xc schooling today purely to get some footage of him xc for some people interested, as we have none. Just watched it and I look way too laid back about it all, my reins look very long, we just don't look very dynamic at all! I'm not sure if I should be worried about it or not, we're doing everything ok, just a little ponderously, but I was rather surprised tbh! Anyway, just my ramblings, don't mind me
tongue.gif
.

ps. will try to get the vids on here at some point, was at Minderhout for those who were asking about it for next year, but won't be for a while, if ever!

Laid back is good, and if he's doing everything then that's fine surely - probably better on a selling vid to not look like you're having to scrub and kick to get him over things?

AND GET THOSE VIDS UP NOW
mad.gif
- sorry to shout, but Gamebird and I have Minderhout in our sights for our first foray abroad. I've even got my HGV training course booked so OH doesn't have to come as driver.
wink.gif

If you drive it by yourself I suggest using your mirrors sparingly round Antwerp, it is utterly terrifying and rammed with lorries trying to do 3 lane changes at once

It's not my camera and my lovely pupils who lent it to me didn't give me the cables to hook it up to anything, but will try my hardest once have footage on dvd! May even post you the dvd! See if you can sell him!

The place was looking a bit scruffy atm, but I'm sure they'll smarten it up somewhat for an international. The ground is so good there, was a bit splashy in places but firm underfoot and no need for studs
smile.gif
. Oh, and I like your take on our laid-backness
cool.gif
.

Hmmm, I had my assessment last night: in the dark, around Boston, in rush hour, and that was scary enough, but I'm sure by June I'll be driving one-handed (Yorkie bar in the other hand), shades on, gesticulating and mouthing at any lorry driver that dares to cut me up.
tongue.gif

It would be good to see the dvd, not that I know anyone buying at the mo unfortunately. Laid-back is good in my eyes, I'd always rather have one you've got to kick than one you've got to pull at (bit of a foregone conclusion when you've got part Cleveland Bays, although hunting seems to have changed them somewhat).
crazy.gif

Don't suppose you've heard the Chris Moyles 'Lorry Driver' song by any chance.... It'll be Red Bull and taco breaks for you before you know it
tongue.gif

Got a very nice reply from Paul Graham today who said that seeing as I didn't complete on two of my four last runs and got 20 pens on the other two he might like to see a SLIGHTLY better show of form at the start of next season before they let me loose with a Union Jack
blush.gif
. I can explain it all, honestly
blush.gif
. All my good form was at the start of the season I promise. Anyway we're working on it and I like a bit of pressure
wink.gif

I'd also like to see the vid please T_E, you know you just can't write something like that and not put the vid up as well, you teaser
mad.gif
grin.gif

I've heard about it, but not actually heard it....anyway, you're Catering Manager so the Red Bull/Yorkie bar is down to you.

PMSL at my mental image of Paul's face when he got your email: something like this
crazy.gif
confused.gif
. Wait till next season and he'll be more
cool.gif
about it.

Having been xc schooling, I agree... you look laid back, and its totally refreshing to watch
grin.gif

Baydale, is this my summer holiday I need to book? when is it? Im looking forward to trucking
grin.gif
no more jaffas, Yorkie's all the way

How are your catering skills? We might start an auction for the priviledge of coming along as map-reader/cook/plaiter/bottle-opener!
tongue.gif
grin.gif

How about we organise an HHO end of year awards for our helpers?! I've got the best volunteer right-hand-woman ever
grin.gif
, well trained in the art of finding exits on maps which I helpfully wave my hand at going "it's there", passing lit cigarettes, chocolate, red bull and bifi rolls (do you have them in England? they taste disgusting anywhere but in a lorry cab on the way home. I think I ate 12 on the way home from Radolfzell). And whilst we're on the subject, surely I'm not the only one that truly believes calories simply do not count on the way home from a horsey day out?!

*sobs* I don't have any helpers. It's just me, the dogs and the horse
frown.gif

On the up-side I am an expert at pouring coffee from a flask whilst driving, reading maps on motorways and the dogs are always pleased to see my left-over sandwiches on the way home. Plus on one memorable occasion I swapped my contact lenses over (had the left one in the right eye and vice versa) on the M62 on the way to Kelsall Hill with a mug of coffee between my knees at 5.30am. Worryingly I had driven 120 miles before I noticed they were wrong

They drive like Canadians! I loved it, the person in the passenger seat was having a coronary.

Ooh, road trip. I can mix an excellent G&T and set jumps, can I come?

On the actual subject at hand, look at it this way, if you look like you're not doing much and the horse is doing his job it just plays into that mindset people get into when they're shopping of thinking how much better they will be able to get the horse to go. I rode for a sj trainer for a few years specifically because I wasn't known and didn't look the part, so she figured people would think, "Heck, if it goes for her, imagine how great it will go for me."
laugh.gif
It worked a treat.
smile.gif

BBs, clear your diary of all girly stressage shows, and pack your eventing kit (wellies, waterproofs, gin
wink.gif
)....*we're all going on a...summer holiday.....no more working.....for a week or two....*
grin.gif

We got cabin fever on the way to Malmo and were seeing how many stupid photos we could get of us looking like Daffy Duck with Pringles in our mouths (you had to be there really).
blush.gif

And you're right T_E, all calories consumed on the way home have been zeroed by the energy expended during the day competing - now that's my kind of diet.
tongue.gif

Lmao! You know its a good road trip when the driver has taken pics of people in the living with teddys on their head asleep..... whilst supposedly driving...
tongue.gif
blush.gif
Can I come?! No chance of me going abroad with my useless donkey!!
grin.gif
SO may as well be a groupy
wink.gif
tongue.gif

TarrSteps, with that laid-back attitude you've got to be Logistics Manager, responsible for keeping the driver calm, the horses chilled and shouting quaint Canadian profanities when I run out of coarse British ones as we circle Antwerp. On arrival you become Refreshments Manager, then Coloured Pole Manager - you're so important you get three jobs.
wink.gif

T_E if you need a numpty to miss Libs a few times so potential purchasers appreciate how good he really is I can book a flight this weekend?

Of course you can come, but leave your teddies at home please. I'm the only one allowed to have teddies to throw out of my pram at some point.

Hmmm, our Wardrobe Manager (IceStationZebra) has been too busy lately to source our Kermit jackets - was that a collective sigh of relief I just heard?

Fear not Baydale, perfectly capable of missing him myself - lately I've been burying the poor bugger in the bottom of everything, he doesn't seem to like it once the jumps are bigger than 120
frown.gif
, watched one sequence yesterday where I went deep to all 4 fences I jumped so decided I better do it again and stand off a few so he didn't look unscopey
tongue.gif
.

BBs, been a while since you and I went eventing together! Seeing as you're having to reregister now so you can go to the Grassroots Champs at Badders in 2010 I think you should consider doing the CIC* on him
cool.gif
. Though you might not be eligable for the grassroots then I suppose
laugh.gif
.

[ QUOTE ]

Hang on, will we have to wear green t-shirts . . .?

[/ QUOTE ]

Oi, at least half of the groupies will be required to support me, Kermit can't have them all!
mad.gif
(no fighting now).

Snigger, well if it all goes belly up, I could always sling him on the lorry and act as score collector inbetween my grooming duties.

Of course, Snoops will have to be coming out at Novice I guess next year to get qualified... its okay, he already told me that he'd rather not be buggering about at "little shows" and would rather go straight to Badders in May anyway. Im not sure BE will give him a concession tho??
confused.gif

I really do need to get some practise in, but failing as somebody, not naming names (Baydale) hasnt yet bought the "must have" green attire.

T_E you coming to blenheim next year?

I can map-read and cook (well I've put on weight since I've left home so that's a good thing right?) and take photos of both moving horses and lorry drivers looking like daffy duck? (I do worry sometimes).

However, re: the map reading, on the way to Smiths Lawns, we did end up at a TK Maxx
blush.gif
So I'm good at finding discount shops.

I was there first! *stamps feet* Please please Baydale don't give my space away to someone better looking/better qualified/better at drinking/better at map-reading/willing to pay you large sums of hard cash in used notes in a grubby brown envelope. I might cry
tongue.gif

ColouredFan ,why don't you come with me and we'll have a rival "Wales and West" truck - that Baydale, she's a funny one (
crazy.gif
) and we don't want our delicate ponies being squished by HH and Carthorse after all... We can do moonies at them on the autobahn as we sail past them cos we've got no speed limiter
